I was after this lens not long after I bought the camera, it would suit for me in a sport or fast pace and wide range from show to racing.
When I recieved it, I had a mental image of being a bulk and heavy, it wasn't as much as I thought, but it was my heaviest lens I came across. I set it up almost immediately, aim the target and press the button just like any other lens, I was please with image stabilizer and there is 2 modes, first is for steady picture and the second is for panning. Other urgent requirement was the built in flash on my camera, even at 28mm setting turns out pretty good. I haven't use it fully so I can't say how brilliant this is. Plus side, I have a Canon 400D, make this lens 45-480mm instead of 28-300mm.
Pro: handling good but a bit on heavy side, 5 mins is good. sharp pictures, even a little par with a dull weather. Easy to set up, love by it. Built to quality, size and use. Also useful tighten ring which locked the barrel in place. IS (image stabilizer)is a big plus.
Cons: I only say it is big and heavy but limited of use as said above, I would use lighter lens for general use like Tamron 18-250mm (it doesn't have image stabilizer)
