Despite one reviewer here who in fact is complaining about his/her purchase and not reviewing the camera (not a useful review)
The Canon 350D, is an excellent introduction to the world of digital SLR photography. As one other reviewer has stated if you want to use the camera in point and click you can get some very impressive results. You can extend the range of this camera by buying extra lenses flashguns etc. My only complaint is I feel its is a little on the light side, that said most manufacturers appear to be going that way. I had one of these cameras and was very happy indeed with the results, I only sold it because I up graded.
The Canon Digital Rebel XT/EOS 350D package is exactly what I was looking for, an SLR Camera that is easy to use, point and shoot. No delays, not heavy, big memory, easy to download to PC and Laptop, great Freebies with purchase, my wife and I have managed over 400 photos in two days, we have tested everything, she finds it so simple I might have to give up the idea that it is my camera. This camera is one of the best 8 megapixel digital SLRs on the market. Whilst a few people criticise the 18-55mm lens supplied with this camera, it is a good all round lens and the picture quality is excellent. With the addition of extension tubes, macro photography is yours for about £120 for a set of three, giving amazing close ups of insects etc. which print out to A4 with amazing clarity. Yes there are better cameras but for an awful lot more than this oneand at the end of the day it is down to the person holding the camera to compose the photograph and select the correct settings.
Im not sure what I expected when I bought this camera to be honest but I must say that I find it too heavy for me personally. You cant use the viewing window to see the pic you want to take which is what I thought I could do when I bought it. Had I know you had to use the eye piece to take pics I wouldnt have bought it. It is too complicated for me lol so Im going to sell mine on and Ive only had it a couple of weeks. I bought my camera off another ebayer and it is like brand new but just too big for me and too many buttons that dont seem to do what I want them to do!!!! Dont be put off by this review if you know about cameras though and you dont mind having a heavy camera in your hand whilst taking pics.
Ok, it was probably everything it said on the box BUT, it didn't have a battery charger that I could work out how to use in the uk, which was quite a pain, also it didn,t have a cf card with it, which meant I couldn't use it for a while, the seller might take this into account and rectify these not too expensive but inconvenient factors of the sale. I bought this item as it seemed it was a good price at the time but when you look at the factors involved and in retrospect perhaps I should of double checked and made sure I was happy with what I was purchacing before I went ahead with the auction. Retrospect is a great gift but make sure you double check about the items.
Excellent first step to learning about photography. Easy to use. Excellent picture quality. Point and shoot option if you want it. Great build quality. Outstanding WHICH? review.
My phone has a camera on it. The lens is smaller than a fingernail. It can only take in so much information.
The lens on theSLR is so much bigger so it can take in so much more detail, so you end up with a much clearer photo. Probably like going to HD from a normal telly.
Still, there is an easy set up o you can get taking photos straight away. If you want to get into changing the shutter speed to get a good action snap then you can do that as well.
For someone that wants to learn about the 'science' behind photography this is the camera. A great way to learn about aperture, shutter speeds depth of fields etc...especially when you have upgraded from the compact point and shoots. It doesn't have live view like the latest Canon 450d or 1000d which means you have to use your knowledge of photography to get the best results from the situation, kind of like forced learning. I guess once you this camera worked out it will be time for another upgrade.
It is easy to use for a beginner. Once the battery is charge, you can use it for anything. I brought it because Canon is the best name for cameras and EOS series are the easiest to use.
I purchased a camera on Ebay. The transaction was smooth and went without a hitch. The seller described the camera perfectly and I did indeed get a bargain. I find the canon EOS 350D a good camera to use, it is easy to understand, light to hold and in this case everything works perfectly
I carried out background research into the product and as I was new into digital slr photography purchased this budget camera. The camera is excellent, easy to use when controls are understood and gives terrific results. I am able to use the lenses from my Canon slr which is another reason for sticking with Canon cameras. My wife also enjoys using the camera using the auto settings and gets good results. All in all a terrific buy and tremendous value with the additional bonus items that came with it. At present I can honestly say that there is no downside with this product.
camera dead easy to use and good it takes all canon non digital lenses. however what u see through view finder and what you get on the picture is not the same! I have cut off a few heads ubtil I got the hang of it. It is worst with the non dig lenses.only other issue for me is the screen on the back of camera is small but I had read that was a downside with this camera before I bought it.Overall it takes fantastic photos and great value for the money!
I have been taken pics as a hobby for most of my life. I think the EOS 350d is the best camera I've come across. Compact enough to travel with, superb pictures.
Great camera, not too big or heavy. Amazing picture quality, pro standard. There is no camera you could compare it to for this price. Bargain! Get one!
This is an excellent camera for people starting of in digital photography. It is voted the top of best buys in the WHICH magazine. The picture qaulity is excellent when it is matched up with the CANON PRIMA IP4500 SERIES printer. The only thing I don't like about it is that it only shoots 3 frames per second. Would be nice if it shot 5 or more per second, but then again I'm a fussy git!. Buy the camera , you won't be disappointed. I'd just buy the camera body on it's own and then buy lenses seperately to suite style.
A good Starter camera with a Full Feature range. Image quality is excellent, and there is a noticeable difference in quality, and features when moving from a normal digital camera.
If you are taking your first steps into SLR Photography, and want the advantages of digital (who wouldnt!?) then I highly recommend this camera for the price. The fact that is a well known and respected brand is also good.
The one thing I would suggest - get a memory card, 512MB or more - as youll soon be snap happy!
this camera is a dream, having used a point and click Kodak for some years, and trying to take pictures of son playing rugby the Canon fits the bill. i have invested in 2 new lenses. The camera itself is quite easy to use, however i've joined a camera club to get the best out of it, the eos cameras make up 80% of the cameras in class. the pictures are clear and crisp, great camera definatley would advice anyone to buy. I have just started getting into photography, and looking around the market was mind blowing. There are so many different models of makes it is really hard to find which one is best for you.
I am more than happy when I bought the Canon Rebel 350D SLR, I know there are higher specifications for this make, but for the money it is excellent value.
It has everything you need and more. With it being slightly cheaper than the new models you can then justify buying extra gadgets for it!!!
You can't take a bad picture with the 350d very clear photos.
Highly recommended for both beginner and expert. :)
I have just purcahsed this camera as a total novice, and its point and click capabilities are very helpful. Its greater capabilities are far beyond my very limited knowledge of photography, awaiting discovery as I learn about how to get more out of this camera.
It's not too heavy for an SLR, and the picture quality even using the most basic settings is amazing.
One minor point to bear in mind if you are in the UK and purchase the Rebel XT as opposed to the 350 (EU model of the same) is that the Rebel only comes with a US charger, so you'll need a plug adapter or an alternate charger. These are easy to come by and inexpensive, so it's not a big deal.
This was purchased for my husband, and he would seem to be very please with it. It was purchased just prior to going on holiday to France, before leaving he took some very good close-up photos of my flowering camellia, and of our german shepherd.
Whilst away, he took some very clear and detailed pictures of the Normandy beaches and our grandchildren. There was a very clear picture giving good perspective of or grandson in a bomb crater.
I think overall this was a very good purchase, and the lens that came with it is very good, giving clear pictures, this coupled with the camera focusing possiblities give very good range and depth.
i love the camera and how cheap i got it for and it does me wonders, however if i leave the battery in the camera it loses its charge which is annoying. if there is anything u can do to help with that id be greatful if u cud help. josh
I have just joined a camera club and Canon cameras seemed to be the most popular. I wanted a camera which was light enough for me to handle and this one has proved that. I am delighted with my purchase and look forward to using it.
