Despite one reviewer here who in fact is complaining about his/her purchase and not reviewing the camera (not a useful review) The Canon 350D, is an excellent introduction to the world of digital SLR photography. As one other reviewer has stated if you want to use the camera in point and click you can get some very impressive results. You can extend the range of this camera by buying extra lenses flashguns etc. My only complaint is I feel its is a little on the light side, that said most manufacturers appear to be going that way. I had one of these cameras and was very happy indeed with the results, I only sold it because I up graded. Review ID: 10000000002699302 Was this review helpful? I have just purchased one of these myself, as my wife and i run a photography/videography business we needed something that produced good quality shots at an affordable price and this is it! Great functionality and versatility you can't go wrong and with the huge amount of interchangeable lenses ( of which it has the most of any camera in it's league) it's probably the best buy for the price range. Frankly all these articles floating around about it being too light is a poor excuse to find something negative about it, in fact it's more of a positive because you don't have to strain your hands, arms or wrists, great purchase well recommended!! Let me start by saying that I was introduced to Digital SLRs by my father who has more that £6,000 worth of camera equipment (including a £1300 Nikon D200). He said after using my 350D that if he didn't have all the lenses for his Nikon, he would buy a Canon, and believe me, it takes a lot for him to put his Nikon down. He also said that it's just as good as his camera. This is an excellent starting point for first-time DSLR users, especially if you want to learn how manual photography works. It takes some professional pictures, and is well worth the money I spent on it! Review ID: 10000000002811348 Was this review helpful? Report this review 14 of 14 people found this review helpful. I've owned an XT / 350D for some time now and it's been tested under every possible condition and performs well in every environment. As a nightclub photographer I've taken thousands of images in very low-light conditions, and where many entry-level DSLR's may struggle, the XT has no problems. The autofocus is fast and accurate even in the most unstable environments. The camera has no trouble finding its focus in the darkness, producing perfectly crisp, well saturated, colourful images with barely any noticable noise at ISO 100 - 800. The custom white balance feature is fantastic, allowing you to select your colour / tone from a colour chart. The camera is small and light enough to take anywhere, but the size takes nothing away from its capability, although it may not be ideal for photographers with larger hands. I solved this problem by purchasing a battery grip which adds to the size but makes the camera much easier to handle. This camera is 100% user-friendly and easy to use regardless of your knowledge or experience. Aside from the full manual modes, the camera has five fully automatic, pre-programmed modes for people who favour their point and shoot photography. The menus are well designed and simple to navigate. It's an ideal choice for any amateur looking to enhance their skills or be a little more creative with their photography. And the perfect camera for people making the jump from fixed lens to DSLR. I have owned and used more expensive cameras which do not perform as well as the 350D. The kit lens is not fantastic and any serious amateur would soon be looking to invest in a better lens. It's a nice enough portrait lens but isn't as sharp as most people would like and has no real zoom level. More advanced photographers would be better buying a body only deal and purchasing a seperate lens to suit their needs and budget. I'd recommend this camera over any other model within this price range with assured satisfaction. Review ID: 10000000003449127 Was this review helpful? Report this review |
