Despite one reviewer here who in fact is complaining about his/her purchase and not reviewing the camera (not a useful review)

The Canon 350D, is an excellent introduction to the world of digital SLR photography. As one other reviewer has stated if you want to use the camera in point and click you can get some very impressive results. You can extend the range of this camera by buying extra lenses flashguns etc. My only complaint is I feel its is a little on the light side, that said most manufacturers appear to be going that way. I had one of these cameras and was very happy indeed with the results, I only sold it because I up graded.

I bought the camera because I wanted a canon SLR Camera. It was described as faulty would not switch on.
It turned out to be water damaged and irreparable. The seller knew this, and really should not have sold it on e-bay without saying so. There is quite a difference in faulty (maby a component has ceased to function) and ruined by a dip in the ocean.
I dislike the fact that he, and other devious people like him can steal your money in this fashion.
It has certainly altered the way I buy on e-bay now.

I have just purchased one of these myself, as my wife and i run a photography/videography business we needed something that produced good quality shots at an affordable price and this is it! Great functionality and versatility you can't go wrong and with the huge amount of interchangeable lenses ( of which it has the most of any camera in it's league) it's probably the best buy for the price range. Frankly all these articles floating around about it being too light is a poor excuse to find something negative about it, in fact it's more of a positive because you don't have to strain your hands, arms or wrists, great purchase well recommended!!

  5* Digital SLR

Let me start by saying that I was introduced to Digital SLRs by my father who has more that £6,000 worth of camera equipment (including a £1300 Nikon D200). He said after using my 350D that if he didn't have all the lenses for his Nikon, he would buy a Canon, and believe me, it takes a lot for him to put his Nikon down. He also said that it's just as good as his camera. This is an excellent starting point for first-time DSLR users, especially if you want to learn how manual photography works. It takes some professional pictures, and is well worth the money I spent on it!

This is a great product! But it can be expensive! I'm glad I found www.freeiphoneforme.co.uk where I got mine for free :)

All I did was sign up and then completed one simple offer. I recommend the Lovefilm free trial offer as it only takes a few minutes to complete and its only a simple trial!

My personal recommendation is the Coral offer as it is quick, easy and only costs £5.

There are many other gadgets I got for free this way, such as consoles, iPhones, iPods, Plasma TV's and the list goes on and on.

Visit: www.freeiphoneforme.co.uk

I hope you enjoy the extra £££'s saved in your bank account from using www.freeiphoneforme.co.uk :)

Having owned a canon SLR for years, the time to upgrade had come. I also owned a compact digital camera, but both are now for sale on ebay. The 350d to me is perfect. Perfect size, perfect shape, perfect spec for what I need. The speed it takes picutres is ample and the quality is amazing, both on computer and printed off professionally. I got mine for £200 which I believe to be a steal, do some research and there about £350 - £400 body only!
Overall if you love the feel and eas-ability of canon, you cant go wrong with this one!

I am relatively new to photography - I have a S5700 (Fuji) which I thought a very able camera for the money - I had read all the hype about Canon digital semi pro cameras with separate lenses and thought they sounded like too much hassle. Boy... how wrong could I be! The depth and clarity of the image and versatility the lenses presented was a really pleasant surprise... and as far as the lenses being a hassle, it turns out to be quite enjoyable.
I suppose I have to admit that I am delighted with the 350D and can honestly say... I'm hooked!

  Canon Digital 'what a rebel'
Review created: 10/04/07
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I was the proud owner of a Fuji Finepix digital camera that i purchased approx 3years ago and was absolutely knocked out by its quality and performance. It gave me the clarity of picture that no other camera i owned could give me. However, the decision to change was due to the production of a magazine by my other half. I had been seconded to provide the photography for the magazine and the Fuji Finepix did not give me the clarity or quality of picture suitable for the magazine. I searched through endless types of camera until i came across the Canon Digital Rebel XT/EOS 350D. The moment i received it, which i might add was within 48hrs of purchase on ebay, i was out putting it through its paces and for me it delivered the results that i hoped for. The pictures were forwarded to the editor and were passed imediately to which the magazine goes to press 28th April. Fantastic. I even purchased a 70/200 telephoto lens for it so you can imagine how pleased i was at the clarity and quality of pictures.

As a starter camara for digital photography I can't see any problem with the 350D. I bought it used as a step up from my Sony Cybershot point and shoot. I find it easy to understand, gives me good pictures, ( which is what we all want in the end ).As yet I have found nothing wrong, that's not to say I wont down the line. I have heard some say it's heavy, I don't find this to be the case at all. This camara should satisfy the needs of any novice, more advanced photographers will be looking elsewhere.

Canon Digital Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera
Review created: 07/03/08

I had been deliberating for some time about which digital SLR I should throw my hard-earned cash at, when the Canon EOS Rebel XT 350D presented itself. I read several reviews which, as expected, came back with a broad spectrum of opinions and personal views. However, none said "This camera is bad". In fact one chap (Whose opinion I respect) said "Canon 350d - Can't buy a bad one!".

Okay, so now I'm interested. Canon have always been one of the best in the 35mm film range, but have they made the transition to the "Pixel party" with equal gusto. Only one way to find out; Take a test drive, and that I did, with the help of a colleague who had already been smitten.

She (The colleague) had two Canon beasts at her disposal; An EOS 400d and a 350d. I borrowed and tried both. What can I say . . . I too, have been seduced by the "Dark side" - Okay, slight exageration, but the sentiment is about right. Both models were superb. They did everything I asked of them - and then some!

The only difference I could readily spot, was the 2 million pixels extra on the 400d. Otherwise, they both seemed very similar, in my opinion. However, before I start getting mega-critiscism from Mr Canon and 400d owners alike, I have to concede, that if huge prints (over 20 x 16) is what floats you're boat - then go for it, the '400' that is. I personally, did not see any useful advantage of having anything over the Eight million pixels that the Rebel XT 350D offered me. For my purposes, the images are clear, sharp and damned close to colour perfect.

In my previous professional life, I was a seasoned Graphic Designer with extensive experience in the printing and publishing world. This gives me an insight into what you can and cannot do with a digital image - and we could do plenty, if we had a good enough "Original". These days, I'm just a "Picky" amateur photographer who knows "What's-what".

In my humble opinion, for what its worth, the Canon EOS 'Rebel XT' 350D, "Rocks". I was so convinced, I bought one, together with an 18 - 55mm lens - And I am certain that there will be more "add-ons" to follow.

Soory critics - But the Canon EOS "Rebel XT" 350D is a stunning machine - Enough said. Anybody with a little more than a 'few quid' to spend, should be looking at this as a very clever option.

A very good camera, top of it's range, easy to use & takes fantastic photographs!
I read lots of reviews before going for this model & I have not been disapointed. Does everything & more than I need!
I would also recommend a longer lens, the standard lens is excellent but not good for distance or candid shots. I bought a 70-300mm lens & use both equally.
My brother has the next model up, the 400D, which he really rates, he picked mine up & loved it, especially with the longer lens.
Which magazine chose this as their top model, scoring it higher than the Canon 400D & the rest!

Camera bought as gift for keen photographer.

Good points-

- Easy to use
- Good quality for price

Things to consider when buying are:
Are you going to require further accessories (eg. Tripod) to use this camera effectively?
How long will it be until you look to upgrade and what will that leave the value of the camera at?

The camera on it's own would have been an outstanding bargain but the seller included so many add ons at no extra charge. 3 Batteries, Tripod, Camera Bag the list seems endless and the quality of every product is exceptional. A professional photographer friend of mine is logging on as I type about to make a multitude of purchases with the seller the products and quality are so high. We already own a couple of digital cameras but with this product our knowledge of Photography has expanded instantly. The camera is so easy to use and the test shots we've taken have blown us away at their with the superior quality. Even my photographer friend was impressed with my aatuerish attempts. Log nto to the sellers section and purchase away. You won't be disappointed that's for sure. Every segment of the sale we were informed of the progress. A QUALITY SELLER FOR A QUALITY PRODUCT!!! 5 star defintiely.

I was looking to go from a digital point and shoot to the DSLR camera types, so I started doing some research, for what you get for the money this DSLR is excellent. Yes its not got the best image sensor, but for an 8 MP DSLR this has to be the best value for money it has won awards!!!

Full auto gives you that point and click advantage and the preset auto options such as Macro, sports, landscapes etc are very good too, but playing around for yourself with the manual settings I feel gets the best results.

I just love it and I know that I will be getting on really well with it, a friend of mine who has been into digital photography in a big way has a Canon D5, top of the range, and when I said I had bought one he wanted to give it a try, he agreed that it was a supurb piece of equipment, and then showed me a 300D that he also carries around, in comparison it was head and shoulders above the 300D. The standard lens does everything you will need, has a zoom and macro facility.

All in all I would recommend this camera to anyone starting out in the Digital SLR area, and am now ready to move onto my next lens a nice telephoto.

I would say if you are comaparing and wondering what to buy, then as a newbie go for this one.

Canon Digital Rebel XT / EOS 350D Digital Camera with EF-S 18-55mm Lens

Always wanted a good SLR and recently splashed out on the above following research on 'best buy' cameras in various magazines resulting in 'which' magazine best buy.

No noticeable delay when taking pictures (can be a problem with digitals) and results so far have been great.
Battery life seems good but a little disappointed with display on back of camera (virtually impossible to see in bright sunshine)!
Still learning the controls - if buying again I would have purchesed a unit without lenses and made my own choice.
Bundled software is good.
Overall - pleased with purchase.

Is making photography so easy called "Cheating"?
Review created: 09/07/07

3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I bought this camera as I have for years used a Canon EOS 1000F. It was a good choice. The "feel" of it was instantly familiar and when buying a new and expensive piece of equipment it does no harm to feel you are not going to have a lot of trouble finding your way around it. The only snag I found was that my two Sigma EF lenses -35-80mm and 70-210mm- do not work on auto-focus in the Basic Zone. I found this out on the Camera's first outing whilst filming my horse going over jumps and I was using the Sports programme. "Error 99" showing was a bit disconcerting but the pictures taken using only the 28-55mm lens were amazing. A 2GB card came with the bundle and taking 197 Large Fine images hardly made a dent in it, still hundreds left! After always having the feeling at the back of my mind that I must not waste film, being so profligate made feel like a kid in a sweet-shop. My main interest is flower-photography and there, too, I am not disappointed. Even where I cannot use a tripod the sharpness of the image is impressive. The only thing I am going to miss is the multiple image programme on the old EOS 1000. I did'nt use it a lot, but it was fun. Now I suppose I must learn to manipulate my images on the computer - not my strong point so I only hope it is fun finding out. JC

It is a digital SLR and so you can do all the composition things. It is great as you can play with the settings and see the results instantly. Recently took it on a long weekend away and took 200 pics. There was no hesitation about a shot as the card could take huge amounts of pics and then once home it was time to choose what to keep. The battery lasted 4 days far more than I expected. All round great toy if you like photography.

This is my first proper digital SLR camera with so many features and versatility to hand. The buttons are all placed within easy reach (and there are quite a few of them!). Changing settings in each menu is straightforward. The only minor gripes I have are that you can't use the LCD screen as a viewfinder and sometimes my nose hits a button and lights up the LCD screen! Also when using the RAW facility it doesn't work in all modes. Sometimes this is a good thing.
Battery life I have found to be good but I really want a vertical grip to give the body a bigger feel for my big hands and a bit more stabilty along with extra battery life.
This camera can grow with my photography skills for quite a while without the need for an upgrade. Definitely worth considering if the features of the EOS400 put it out of your reach. Can be picked up at a bargain price now.

  Canon EOS 350D - Simply a classic
Review created: 03/05/07
by:
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

After deciding to go for a digital SLR and ditching my lovely old Nikon FM2, I wanted a camera to inspire me creatively. This camera is simply a classic - easy to use, light to carry, looks great, and I'm really pleased with my first shots. When I'm feeling arty I can play around with the exposure or easily switch to b/w, but when I'm in a rush the auto comes in handy. I was tempted by the new 400D but read reviews which said there had been no real improvements to photo quality (see WHICH report). Sometimes it's best to stick with the old trusted and not the new 'must have' latest gadget.
