Canon Digital Rebel / EOS-300D Body only Digital Camera

Canon EOS 300D is perfect when it comes to image quality, however, it is very slow and antique when compared to recent amateur DSLRs. If you are not in a hurry when you are photographing, this camera may be perfect for you. I found its size much better compared to newer EOS 3-digit series, it is larger and more comfortable for bigger hands.

PROs:
- Perfect image quality (shares sensor with EOS 10D)
- Small manageable file sizes - 6MP
- Very reliable
- Perfectly sized for people with large hands
- Viewfinder is pretty good compared to other newer compact DSLRs

CONs:
- Painfully slow to start (3 seconds!)
- Painfully slow to buffer RAW
- Mirror mechanism has a design fault and fails after time (beware ebay buyers)

The digital rebel series from Canon is aimed at the 'pro-sumer' market so not a high end professional digital SLR however for the price you will not get better. For those brought up with halfway decen SLR film cameras (I had a string of Pentax ME Supers then Nikons) This camera is an excellent transition to Digital. The manual settings are easy to work with and you can just stick it on point and shoot if you are feeling lazy.

Although the 300 is getting on a bit and the resolution has been surpassed by much more compact cameras - this is still a great camera to get started with if you want to swap to a digital SLR - we use ours as a spare body. On the minus side they are not up to heavy handed use and repairs can be expensive (as we have found with our 350D)

The pictures are crisp, clean and clear..........I will never go back to a conventional digital camera again. the functions are just great on all modes, sport mode is fantastic.
Overall a exceptional camera in all departments

after using the camera i would recommend to anyone. The spares and lenses are very cheap and plentiful. I went from a high end compact to DSLR and the no real training was required, the settings on the compact are the same as the canon.

The only thing that really lets it down is the rubbish silvery colour.

I thought it was time to delve into the world of digital photography, so I dumped the film camera and bought a digital canon slr. Paid for it but then there was a problem with the seller not being able to get his money, but after wer sorted that out, he posted it straight away and i recieved it next day, brilliant. MARIE.

This is a quality product, i have taken some fantastic photograps with it, one thing i was rather disappointed with though, was that it's doesnt record video.. Big shame, i would've expected that from the price tag.. x

With all of the new cameras and lens that have come out recently, the Canon 300D has dropped in price significantly. But these are great machines. They are also compatible with all of the latest EF and EF-S lens. I purchased a 300D for use along side my 40D. OK, it's a little slower, but the pictures it takes are awesome. It save me having to change lens contantly! Great value for money!

I was after a DSLR that would hold the same battery as my 5D, just so I can leave the big gun at home. That meant the 300D or one of the earlier x0D bodies. On looking for the 300D I found many faulty models, which I mostly disregarded but one caught my eye. Park Cameras are (IMHO) one of the best photo shops in the UK. Well known for having more in stock than the major retailer Jessops and being a specialist in Canon gear.
On winning the 300D, I phoned the Burgess Hill branch of PC and spoke to a couple of very knowledgeable and helpful assistants. I took the train up to the store a few days later to collect the item in person. The whole experience has been most pleasant. I will be watching their future items closely.

In spite of its age (now 4 years old) this camera still holds its own, takes excellent pictures - no need to keep chasing megapixels - this camera in my opinion is still great value for money - (especially at the price I paid for it) is simple to use, has enough features to keep both newbies and seasoned photographers happy without going overboard with unnecesary extras (face detection, anti shake and all that jazz) If you can find one buy it!!

My first ever DSLR and venture into the world of digital photography, I owned a silver one back then and I have bought this one as a travel camera rather than lump my 5D around on holiday. A good inconspicuous camera for travelling, good build quality.

Having already acquired some excellent Canon ef lenses, via Ebay for my Canon EOS 'film camera' body, it gave me a 'quality inexpensive slow build' route into digital photography. Brilliantly simple point and shoot option, feels great to handle and work with.

I decided to buy it (this way through Ebay) because I never could have justified buying a full camera Canon EOS digital kit all in one go, on cost grounds alone. Canon's interchangeable lenses (film to their digital range of cameras) are super to upgrade to digital with. Best of both worlds! Great too for Ebaying photography, as a good picture really can be a thousand words, when it comes to selling at a distance!

I now also have a super economical instant digital camera/lenses set up, for birding/wildlife photography, in my retirement. All safely purchased using Paypal! I'm loving it and would recommend this route and camera to anyone, especially 'retirees', looking to get into quality but affordable digital photography. No more film, processing and waiting for prints costs etc! A great little 'thoroughbred' camera! Den.

great entry level slr digital camera,in perfect working order & condition,excellent price. my first venture into slr digital photography,with a recognised brand quality camera,i love it.

I bought the camera to take better pictures and so far im very happy, the quality is excellent. It takes some learning but its worth it. Id say to try and buy a package though, as ive had to buy all the accesories.

Decide how much you want to spend and tell that to the seller, I went thirty quid under his asking price and he wanted to negotiate and I didn't so he reoffered it to me and I got it at my price.. He appreciated the prompt payment via paypal
