Producers include: Holger Czukay, Irmin Schmidt, Gareth Jones.Engineers include: Holger Czukay. The third edition in the excellent CANNIBALISM series of Can reissues focuses on relatively rare and obscure pieces--B-sides, soundtracks, and a few unreleased goodies--from all stages of Can's long and varied career. As a result, these 14 tracks may not be the best start for the Can neophyte--the first volume of CANNIBALISM holds that title against all comers--but it's endlessly fascinating for fans. These tracks, largely instrumental and featuring several entries in the Ethnological Forgery series of faux world music efforts, shows the remarkable interplay between Michael Karoli, Holger Czukay, Jaki Liebzeit and Irmin Schmidt, multi-instrumentalists with the improvisational mindset of jazz pioneers and the cool precision of scientists. Taken together, the three volumes of CANNIBALISM are as good an introduction to the wonder of Can as you're likely to get.
