Calendar Girls (DVD 2004)

i purchased this dvd as it had some good reviews and decided to purchase an original hardly used copy of it.
it certainly lived up to the reviews, it was great and well worth the amount i paid for it.
if i can't buy an original uk dvd on e-bay i probably won't buy it, but when buying i do get confirmation from the seller that it is genuine uk dvd and not an import or copy.

What did I like about the film "everything". I wanted to be able to see it again, that's why I bought it.

I bought the DVD because we live some way from a cinema and I missed the film which friends, in the WI told me ,had some hilarious moments. Rylstone is not that far away and the location shots in the Dales were splendid.
I enjoyed it in a low key way but I doubt we'll replay it mainly because I'm not yet very good on the DVD play controls. I found the advertisements and extracts from other films at the beginning absolutely infuriating and could not skip them as I would wish.

One of the best films that I have watched for some time. Apparently based on a true story it is as funny as life can be. With a dozen or so topless middle age to old women, it is not as bad as it first sounds. The only wrinkles are the laughter lines around my eyes. If you haven't seen it do so as soon as possible.
Superb acting from Julie Walters and all concerned makes this a favourite of mine and will be for a long time to come.

I have wanted this DVD for a long time. Looking forward to watching it soon. We have just got back today from holiday.

Brilliant storyline with plenty of humour in it. Excellent acting. I bought because it was recommended

I really liked this film. It has a good, easy, striaght-forward storyline, with likeable strong characters, played by good actors. Julie Walters and Helen Mirren are great in it. I also found it funny in places.

This film from start to finish, is as much, about the friendship between Chris and Annie, as it is about the W.I. fundraising Calendar. I found the process of photographing the Calendar, the most amusing. It is a film, you could easily watch again, and is easy to watch and enjoy.

I bought this dvd, because I hadn't seen it, and heard so much about it. I'm pleased I got the dvd.

Excellent cast list. Great film. Great acting. Great script. Heart warming story. Recommended. Nothing about the film to dislike.

I watched a documentry the other night on the caledar girls and I thought the film looked quite good, so I bought it to go into my ever increasing Dvd Collection.

the reason I wanted this dvd was I had just seen the stage production and loved it.Plus a friend of mine is one of the Morris Dancers in the film.

In the small town of Knapely, Yorkshire, England, Annie Clarke (Julie Walters) has just lost her husband, who was ill with leukemia. Inspired in his speech to the local Women's Institute, where he said that "the flowers of Yorkshire are like the women of Yorkshire", and "the last phase of the women of Yorkshire is always the most glorious", her best friend Chris Harper (Helen Mirren) decides to make a calendar with twelve local middle-age women nude to raise funds for the wing of leukemia treatment in the local hospital. The calendar becomes well succeeded, making them famous and affecting their lives.

Bought because of the cast, a film with this many good actors cannot be all bad. Bought becasue of the hype and because it was based on a true story.
Was not disappointed. Some truely magic moments from Annette Crosby and Cellia Emery. A feel good film, Sunday afternoon , bottle of wine , and bar of chocolate film!

I bought this for my mum as she saw it in the cinema and loved it, she has watched it several times since and says she finds it very funny and moving. Julie Walters is brilliant in it.

i thought it quite good but it belongs to mt 18yr old daughter and she rates it good i decided to buy it because ive hrard about before and my daughtyer is into these sorts of dvd

I love this movie, brilliant! I much prefer European films to Hollywood ones, too predictable.
Trying to enlarge my collection with some good classic British films like this one. Like Guy Ritchie's movies as well.

Bought it on DVD because we only had it on video and we no longer have a video player.

This superb film is extremely touching whislt at the same time very humerous.
It reminded me of so many people in my own life and I'm sure it will remind others of people they know. In the name of "for charity" we all have a bit of daring in us. These brave women took it a step further.
I shall be reselling the DVD on eBay, but all proceeds will go to a cancer charity as a thank you to them for firstly the calendar and subsequently the film. Bravo!

An easy watch family film with a feel good factor! Full of some great, classic british actors and actresses. One that would be safe for your mum to watch and laugh at!

What's there to dislike! Great British movie with the cream of British filmaking talent... marvellous script, super direction & brilliant casting make this gentle view of middle-class contemporary everyday life - thought provoking & good clean 'British' fun - classy movie!

Great British movie i bought it for my mum but was quite surprised when i enjoyed it too. Film about older women raising money by posing for a calendar is not something that instantly appeals to the younger generation but i'd say this film weighs in with Full Monty as a British classic

i thought this was a great dvd, especially if u want a girly night in. it had funny and sad bits in it. the part where they take the photos for the calendar was my best bit in the whole film

IT WAS A VERY GOOD PRICE ALSO THE BUYER WAS VERY COOPERTIVE.SOMEBODY I WOULD DO BUSINESS WITH AGAIN.
