I love this phone for many reasons, Where do i begin, well firstly the phone is like the apple iphone only a lot lot cheaper, it does everything and more than its rival.
It takes two sim cards, so you can use 1 for business and 1 for personal use, the internet wasnt easy at all set up' we had to look on the net to find the settings to programme it' but we managed it easy enough and after many trials and errors we got connected i even brows ebay and have placed a bid on the thing, I would give this phone 10/10 for looks and performance.
If you are thinking about getting 1 then dont hesitate, buy it, i have bought 2 of these, read my feedback if you dont believe me, i got them both this year so jan and feb 2008 is the place to look for feedback to prove i bought 2' If they want any good then i wouldn t have bought the 2nd one would i.
So thats all i can say really, Its a good nice looking phone, it does everything a phone should and more, and so i have read of the net it does 2 extra things that the iphone doesnt, I couldn t tell you what they are as their are so many features on this phone that im finding new things everytime i play with the thing.
The easiest way to get to know the phone and get used to it is by playing with the thing, the more you play then the more you learn new things about it, like i menioned do not expect a easy time using the internet and if thats why you want one then save your money, its simply a phone and pda, the internet doesnt resemble the iphone so dont expect miracles...

I was looking for a touch-screen 'phone with the style of the Apple iPhone but without the price-tag! The CECT is, indeed, attractive in appearance and sells on eBay for between a third and a quarter of the price of the 8Gb iPhone.
I know people who own iPhones and, in comparison, the extra cost does bring with it a more user-friendly, smoother and more refined operation.
To hold, the CECT is surprisingly light; I found it quite comfortable whether in my hand or in my top pocket (although most female friends said they thought it was too large for them). From then on I found the 'phone to be quite 'user-UNfriendly' compared to other types of mobile I've owned in the past. For example, it was not immediately obvious how to turn the thing on...! Making a call was also more of a chore than it needed to be, especially if dialing directly from my contact list - I was hoping to maybe just highlight the contact and press a dial button to call that person but, not so! Several taps, screens and some scrolling took place before I eventually get to make the call.
Texting was equally cumbersome....even with the integral stylus, the various keyboard layouts were far from intuitive, making it difficult and unclear how to swap from lower case to upper case and from symbols to numbers, etc. The freehand writing recognition sounds great but is, in fact, slower than 'tap texting' and was often very inaccurate (also, allowing only one digit to be written at a time).
The ring tones were far from melodic....some being closer to demonic! Above volume 5, sound was distorted and I found myself turning down very low or just resorting to vibrate. I didn't even try using it as a media player because of this. I didn't try downloading any tones because I was never able to connect to the 'net (this may have been my network provider's fault though, more than the 'phone..).
After a couple of weeks I'd had enough; for me, the cons had far outweighed the pros and I sold the CECT to the husband of a work colleague and went back to my Motorola RAZR....!

The CECT S688 3.2" LCD Triband GSM Cell Phone is really not a bad phone once you get used to all the functions it has, the bluetooth works perfectly fine, voice calls are nice and clear and theres hands free option too, the sms,mms,email functions work spot on once you have changed the settings, the touch screen like most can be a pain but nothing worth writing home about. Battery time is great and on the plus side you get two batteries, there is no wall charger sadly so its either charge it up from the pc all the time or go out and buy a wall plug that converts to usb socket, there about a couple of quid form most places, the phone even has the apple logo's on it too.
You dont get a stylus well i didnt anyway but you may be lucky.
On the down side web connections have to be done via GPRS as there is no Wi-Fi and there is no case or cover for it and as before there is no wall charger only a usb cable, there is no software availble for it at this time either.
Overall this is a great little phone, very cheap in price and does what its supposed to do "be a phone" if you want something fancy for little cost then this is for you, if not then go and spend five hundred quid on a top end phone and go drop in the toilet :-)

An excellent phone for the money, ok so it's not as good to use as the iphone, and it is probably not built as well. That said it functions perfectly, it costs nearly £300.00 less than the iphone (not including contract), and it is unlocked to any network.
If you really want an iphone the only thing to do is buy one, but if you are looking for cheap camera phone and music player then this is hard to beat.

I needed a new phone for myself and looked into the Iphone. Although this not the real thing it is very near to it. I love the phone. It has all that I need and it is smaller that I thought.

Built quality very poor, cheap plastic DO NOT DROP it. Touch screen not responsive, more like a toy! Headphone socket worse I've seen. Not worth the money.

I bought this phone to repace a relic so it took some getting used to the new touch screen. I found it easy enough to pick up but felt that the english instructions only described what to do and would have been a lot better if they showed a few diagrams of the symbols used on the phone.
I am still having bother setting up MMS on this phone as it is set up to servers in China. (As it is not a contract phone I can't get any of the phone shops to take a look because as soon as they see the phone they think it is the iphone by apple which does not receive this type of message, but I'm working on it).
As with the MMS I have not been able to access the internet yet as the phone is not yet GPRS subscribed.
On a couple of occasions the phone froze for a few seconds and took a while to unlock.
I also found that a couple of my friends T3 SIM card does not work on this phone even though it is unlocked.
I like this phone, it is light and fits nicely in a pocket or handbag. I caught on the touch screen facility very quickly and it was easy to use but I would have found it a lot better with more detailed and visual instruction manual. Compared to my friend's iphone (apart from my bother of internet and MMS which I will get sorted) it is actually just as good and quick and looks exactly the same and once I get GPRS sorted will actually be better than the iphone by apple.
(I know all the men reading this will immediately it's a female writing this review as I use instruction books but I wanted to gte the most out of this phone!!!)

This is a cheap copy of the apple iphone.Manufactured to a price,not very much!! Instuction book is a cheap poorly translated photocopy.The old adage stands true " If something looks too good to be true it usually is"The unit is all plastic and flimsy ,battery charger is like a christmas cracker novelty.

The main feature I was interested in on this phone is the dual sim capability. I would not buy this type of phone again, and instead buy one that allows the two sims to be active at the same time.
Other than that, the phone works ok, it is pretty basic without much to shout about apart from it looking like an apple iphone! Which seems to impress some of my friends!!

I like everything about the Cect P168. It is obviously a IPhone clone but has more features and is far cheaper.I purchased the phone from an ebayer in the UK,so did not have to wait that long to recieve it. Rating is value for money 5*,facilities 5*. If you buy this phone you won't be disapointed.

Superb functions such as the dual sim slots, the exquisite touch screen and video and audio capabilities. The phone can also be used as a webcam once connected via usb with a personal computer and it's 2.0mega pixel camera is of great quality also.
Unfortunately, the phone comes with very little in the way of manual support and information on quite complex matters as connecting to the internet or changing the gprs signal receptors to places other than Asia.
On the whole though the phone is good and well worth a buy.

i have recently purchase this product and it have everything that the i-phone has. the only differences are the memory which is micro sd and not built in and there is no slot on the phone to put on a i pod docking port. apart from that it is just an i-phone! i decided to buy this phone because it is 99.9% replica of the i phone. it isnt slow or sluggesh in any way.

good large screen easy to use found two faults so far need to let phone lock itself before putting in pocket, cannot use on prepay as when phone in use you cannot input any numbers apart from that you can put any size memory card in and store enough photos or music to satisfy anyones needs

settings for the netherlands , propably usefull for everyone in the world.
you can use it for retreiving automatic settings, like for example kpn mobile.
first enter : *#3698741# for the 599 or *#3646633# for the p168+
than you get engineering settings.
go to : misc.
than to : WAP
than open : user agent.
set the phone as for example : nokia 6230 (599) , nokia n72 (p168+)
that's it.
now for the dutchies : go to kpn.nl (if you have this account) and let them sent you the wap and sms settings , saying this phone is a nokia 6230 or n72.
worked for me, hopefully also for you.
