Buffy The Vampire Slayer (DVD 2003)

I loved Buffy the series so I thought I'd see how it all began. Kristy Swanson makes a good Buffy but the rest of the movie is a bit disappointing.
If this is supposed to be a prequel to the Buffy series then it doesn't do a good job. There are a lot of anomalies which don't fit with the series.
However, if you watch this movie on its own without the series then it is a good movie on the whole. There are a few cliche moments and in some places it is quite predictable but otherwise it's not a complete waste of 90 minutes.

It's a far cry from the buffy series and as much as the lead couple keep the movie from sinking into disaster zone, i'd say this is a rental rather than must buy title. I do like buffy and firefly and appreciate joss whedon's sense of humour but this has dated badly and doesn't have the finesse of the series.

I decided to buy this item because I love the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the fact that Luke Perry was in it helped too! I had been told that it was crap before I watched it, but it was the type of crappy film that was enjoyable. It was so rubbish that it was funny :)

this item is truly a classic. i have been looking for this for months in the shops but couldnt find it anywere but ofcourse ebay had it so i couldnt resist buying it. and the great part was it was cheap aswel.

I wanted to have the original movie that started the series, although a very '80's' Ham version, it is a part of the history of the series, It is no longer available in shops and the price I paid was a bargain.

Remember this was made before the series, the actors are very different but still fun to watch. Some parts are very funny but dont expect much from the special effects. Its a film that u can watch alot and still find fun to watch and amusing. Its a good story of how Buffy got started and how she became the slayer. A must for all fans of buffy (the storylines). Enjoy.

i am a huge buffy fan and wanted this dvd for my collection. i like the film its very good if u like buffy this is the first dvd that went out . the film is good and theres alot of comidy with this film plus luke perrys in it so an added bonus yum. the fight scenes are ok but not great but the storyline has a way to keep u watching it. there are a few extras but there should b alot more.

Save yourself the money! This is a reasonable film if you like bog standard high school movies. For a Buffy fan it is not worth the effort. Joss Whedon was right to walk away from this production of his idea. It is bland and misses it's own point completely. Spend your cash on the series he eventually created. When you're done with that get started on Firefly and Serenity. Check out the reviews for these to see why.
