In my opinion, born in the USA is one of the best albums ever! it has everything any rock or pop music fan could ever ask for. from its opening collection of thundering stadium rock tracks ('darlington county', 'working on the highway' and the title track 'born in the USA') further listening to them tells a much darker, meaningful story than the music suggests. included are the more softly spoken tracks such as 'I'm on fire' and 'my hometown' which are just as thought provoking and help to demonstrate bruce's vocal skills. this album launched bruce into a global megastar and its easy to see why. this is an essential purchase for any springsteen fan or any music fan in general....

Seen The Boss on many occasions and you just cannot get a better performer like a good vintage wine gets better with age.

Born in the USA still sounds just as good today as when it first came out

  A classic album
Review created: 08/04/09

I bought this 25 years after i got the original on casette, and am happy to say that it still rocks a quarter of a century later. There's not one bad track on this album. The only downside is that it was so popular that subsequent albums have suffered by comparison.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN ;BORN IN THE USA.
Review created: 09/07/08

TIME HAS NOT DONE THIS ALBUM ANY FAVOURS.TWENTY FOUR YEARS AFTER ITS ORIGINAL
RELEASE IT SOUNDS LIKE A COLLECTION OF LEFT OVER SONGS WICH OF COURSE IT WAS.
BRUCE LEFT BEHIND ARTISTIC MERRIT FOR SUPER STAR HYPE.THIS ALBUM WAS HEADING FOR THE BARGAIN BIN BUT THE MTV FRIENDLY DANCING IN THE DARK LIFTED IT TO MULTI PLATINUM SALES IN ITS FIRST YEAR AND FIVE OTHER HIT SINGLES FOLLOWED.
THE GREAT SHAME IS THAT THE MORE CLASIC BRUCE TRACKS WER OVER LOOKED ,DOWN BOUND TRAIN AND BOBY JEAN.THESE TRACKS SAVE THIS CD FROM BEING BLAND HITSVILLE
ROCK AND ROLL, THAT JOB COULD NOW BE LEFT TO BRIAN ADAMS,AND BON JOVI;
BRUCE WAS TURNING INTO ELVIS AND THEIR WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO, EXCEPT LAY LOW FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS AND MAKE A QUIET ALBUM IN THE KITCHEN.

If you don't already know at least 5 songs from this then you were not listening to music in the early 80's or have not followed the history of music. Songs of snippets of Americana, where almost every song could be turned into a Raymond Carver short story or a made for tv drama. Yes the music had become even more anthemic, which to the dim witted hid the message beneath but to others helped to counterpoint the bleak lives being narrated.

Bruce - As good as I remember
Review created: 10/03/08

I remember listening to this when I was i the Royal Navy. We had it blasting out every shift and I knew all of the words off by heart. Never was a big Bruce Springsteen fan, but this changed my mind.
Heard the tracks earlier this year on an episode or 'Cold Case'. They were playing the whole album in little snippets throughout the show. Had to get a copy on Disc and uploaded it to my Laptop so now I can listen wherever I am.
It is as good as I remember and brings back many great memories.
Oh to be young again !!!!!

  Springsteen Supreme
Review created: 04/03/08(updated 04/03/08)

Born In The USA is a classic American album that hits right at the soul of your being. It captures a moment that is much darker than you could possibly imagine and yet it lifts the spirit and takes it to new levels. Bruce Springsteen spoke to a generation with this album.
