Britannia Hospital
I love Lindsay Anderson's work, his trilogy of films includes If, O Lucky Man! and this the final instalment Britannia Hospital. Obtaining BH was more of a whim for me, having seen the other two films so many times. I did enjoy BH, however I have to say it's the weakest of the three. Malcolm McDowell's early career from Clockwork Orange onwards fascinates me, as you would expect he's the subject of medical experiments in Anderson's movies too. However O Lucky Man! deals with the subject with far more skill than Britannia Hospital. I think the budget may have been lacking in this third instalment, plenty of famous faces, but a rushed plot, and some weak acting in places. I would say essential viewing for fans of Anderson, but the amazing cornucopia of ideas in OLM sadly surpass this last instalment.
