Brief Encounter (DVD 2001)

I bought this classic as I wanted to see this much-talked about film. I liked the way the original atmosphere had been captured on the digital format. It was especially good to find an 'adult' film which contained no violence or bad language. My only dislike is that this lovely film does not seem as widely available as I think it should be!

One of my favorite films ever, a lovely storyline set in a period in our country long since dissapeared. A truly fascinating and pure escapist entertainment. How many times have you ever been in a railway waiting room or on a train journey and struck up in a conversation with a complete stranger. Brief Encounters is a beautiful adaptaion along these lines, the next time you meet a stranger and start a conversation, you never know where it may lead.

Brief Encounter is a beautifully directed film about the chance meeting of a housewife and a married man at a train station cafe.

Their friendship develops into romance and they go on to have a brief affair.

However, their time together is marred by their guilt at what they are doing and they end up parting despite still loving each other.

This is a masterpiece of film work with stunning acting performances from both Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard. I defy anyone not to be moved by this wonderful, beguiling film.

I recently went to see the West End performance on Brief Encounter. After the show I thought it would be great to see the oringinal film again. I was sooo pleased that it was available through ebay and have enjoyed watching it several times. Having a copy on DVD is so convenient.

We decided to buy as it is a film that we have wanted for some time. The quality in DVD format was a vast improvement on the video.

Great film, quick friendly service. Book the whole evening for this movie. It is a classic story about lust and temptation. Will she, won't she. Is he ever going to tell her how he truly feels or about what he really wnats ? Well you will have to see. This is about good old fashioned British values

An elderly friend of mine was saying that her favourite film of all time was "Brief Encounter". Within four days I had ordered it from EBay and had it delivered. She was delighted with it. Thank you

I brought this dvd for a friend who could'nt find it anywhere. It has been remastered brillantly. It has included a (making of) documentry.

This is one of my favourite films of all time !!!! Having seen this on numerous occasions in the cinema, I was especially pleased to get it on DVD. The acting is superb and gives a genuine atmosphere of the time, with Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson bringing the railway station to life. The Rachmaninov Piano Concerto 2 is perfect for the background music and I defy anyone not to feel very moved by the story. I would recommend that a handkerchief be kept within reach !!

Brief Encounter is one of my most favourite films. I just love it although it makes my cry for most of it. The acting, direction and the whole look of the film is utterly fantastic.

A dinner trip on the Orient Express included a visit to Carnforth Railway Station, the venue used for filming Brief Encounter. After seeing this station, I really wanted to see the film.
It is a very moving film, which tells the story of a couple deeply in love. But although their feelings are so intense, they realise that there is nothing as important as as a good marriage, and the marriage vows that they made to their respective partners.
The film is "out of date", I suppose, but how pleasant to remember that there was a time when marriage was so important that it was better to sacrifice self interest rather than hurt a spouse. And how nice to see a film that holds your interest without the need for violence and bad language.

It was on one of the tv channels a few weeks ago and i thought i still dont have it ,an absoloute classic.

again another present,it was watched and enjoyed,if you like this type of story you will not be disappointed...

A friend of mine enjoys classic films and loved the this DVD for christmas. It was recommended to me and it was a good price.

A truely beautiful love story. Very easy to watch and enjoyable.Beautiful Music, atmosphere, humour and full of emotion.
