Saturday morning detention and five high school kids are forced to endure half a day in each others company ... they hate each other, they hate school and they are all misfits in their individual ways.

The day, however, brings new levels of understanding to lives of the "Breakfast Club" in an emotional, powerful and moving story of trying to fit in and belong.
An iconic eighties movie with great performances, comedy and a great message of hope and belief.

Claire Standish (Molly Ringwald) The Princess

John Bender (Judd Nelson) The Criminal

Brian Johnson (Anthony Michael Hall)

Andrew Clark (Emilio Estévez) The Athlete

Allison Reynolds (Ally Sheedy) The Basket Case

this film has to have the record for the smallest cast ever , 5 students on detention , their teacher Bender and carl the janitor , although only having a small cast and being set mainly around one room this film is excellent, where most films would struggle to keep you captivated this is one where you will get to the end and without realizing the time .. i believe a good way to judge a good film , the students all having completely differing personalities are thrown into the same room together as way of detention and the film tells the story of their next few hours together , a classic 80's film very well put together it will intrigue you , and i guarantee if you cant relate to one of the characters from your school days you will have known someone at school who did, 5 stars definatley one to watch

The Breakfast Club, to put it simply this is one of the best films to come out the 1980's and a must see before you die! Directed by John Hughes (the legend behind Ferris Bueller's Day Off) this was always going to be a great teen flick. 5 teenage kids placed on Saturday detention for a variety of reasons discover who they really are - a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess ..and a criminal. Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.

One of my all time favourites. It is so easy to associate with all the characters in this film , after all we all know or perhaops were one of the cast. The kids can be defined as the beauty.the criminal, the jock, the swot or the recluse. The overbearing teacher well we all experience that i suppose.A top notch script and excellent performances from the cast just bring this film to life. One and a half hours of pure joy.Give yourself a treat watch this film !

  Breakfast Club --> must see
Review created: 17/04/08

Fanstastic film, great mix of characters and how they interact over the courser of the time, with a common 'enemy' and a commonality between them that they didn ot realise. The teacher did them a great favour.
Almost a shame that the founders of 'Big Brother' saw it !!

A blast from the past, man!
Review created: 10/02/08

Everything about this movie reminds me of my youth. From the Simple Minds intro and end song, it sums up the time era perfectly. A fresh faced cast, most of which went on to individual fame and fortune, this film embodies the 80s and I love it! I can probably quote the whole script too, if pushed. For me, it was a bargain buy and has prompted me to go search for some other classic 1980s movies. Warm fuzzies all round :)

I really enjoyed this film. There's only six characters in the entire film really. 5 high school kids, and their teacher during detention on a saturday, 9 til 5 i think. To be honest, nothing much happens, just a couple of arguments with the teacher, and they escape and stuff. But mostly it's dialogue. But yet, it was really gripping, and I found myself hanging on their every word. It's all about how these five teenagers come to realise who they really are, their relationships with other people and the pressures of teenage life. Covers some really relevant issues for us youngsters, and very enjoyable...... Deep

  Classic from the 80s
Review created: 02/08/07

Probably the best example of a film from the Brat Pack era. One of my top ten films of all time. I love the final quote:

Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it was we did wrong. But we think you're crazy to make an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us... In the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain and an athlete and a basket case a princess and a criminal. Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, the Breakfast Club.

  Fabulous 80's cheese
Review created: 09/07/07

This is an 80's classic. A group of kids (all now probably in their late 30's/40's) sit in detention at school on a Saturday. They're all from different cliques - the sports jock, the prom queen, the nerd, the sexy guy from the wrong side of the tracks, and one weird girl. During the course of the day, they get to know each other, swop stories of their awful lives, and end up smoking joints and snogging. Fantastic. It is aimed at getting you to see why you shouldn't stereotype. Some semi-serious views on physical and mental abuse also. And some fantastic 80's music, clothes and hair styles. Not to be missed.

I love The Breakfast CLub... because I love the 80's! hehe.

  Amazing film
Review created: 09/12/06

The reason i bought this film was:-
When i was younger it was the type of film which got all us teenagers to enjoy...
And now Even my eldest nagged me to buy it because she watched it on the telly and loved it.
This is one film i think that will go down in the ages for all teens no matter how old it is....
I suppose you could say it's another grease
