The Break-Up (DVD)

Took my girlfriend to see this film at the cinema, I myself actually enjoy the odd chick flick, as ino she does. Both of us struggled to stay awake! The one moment of excitement would only be men between us. when Jennifer Aniston (playing the wife) Attempts to show off infront of her man via walking across the room nude! (Not that the writer plesures us with any of the view for ourselves...)

Overall thumbs down to this film.

I really enjoyed this film. Wasnt expecting to much but found myself laughing and getting frustrated along with both charactors! Both main actors put in a really good performance and even my boyfreind managed to watch this ' chick flick' within moaning. Def worth a watch!

fab, ace movie, hilarious, for anyone who has had one of those breaks-ups were in the end neither of you can remeber why you really fell out! deffiantly a feel good film!!

I enjoy chick flicks and this one stars Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn, two funny actors that I like very much. But I think Ms Aniston has done one comedy too many and it's reflected in a very average performance in a very average movie. I didn't have me rolling around with laughter but it was all right. I didn't wander off to make a cuppa tea, which I tend to do when I'm bored with a film. Rainy day material.

I purchased this dvd as i had been told by numerous people it was a film that shgould be watched. It was a good film however normally the ending leaves you feeling satisfied and this film didn't fulfill that satisfaction.

Vince Vaughn is perfectly cast as a slob who is used to getting his own way and likes to talk himself out of trouble, Aniston is ok as his long suffering girlfriend, but there is just something about the film that doesn't quite click, and the ending is a bit of an anti-climax.

This film is for anyone who is sick to death of having to mither their partner to do the chores and to think of their long suffering girlfriends/wives rather than themselves all the time. It was fantastic. Funny, touching and witty definately recommended.

All round good rom com, but the only prob is I just can't see Vince and Jen together so it never really worked for me. It is not the best but only def not the worst.

I love the actors/actresses who play the main parts. Its funny, real, sad all at the same time. Reccomended for couples or singles, young or older.

Very funny, heart warming, not slushy. Both acted it out well. Sad in places. I would definitely watch it a few more times.

Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn star in this romantic comedy from the director of Down With Love; Breaking up can be tough. The film follows the two leads as they try to force the other out of their shared apartment, all the while, mistaking their ex’s actions as hostility rather than a cry for help.

Aniston stars as Brooke Meyers, a highly successful and (of course), beautiful woman working in an Art Gallery; Vaughn stars as Gary Grobowski, a popular tour bus guide, working for his brother’s firm in Chicago. The two of them meet at a ball game and fall in love. When Gary takes Brooke for granted, first of all forgetting to buy the right ingredients for her centrepiece at a family dinner and then later, refuses to help her clean up after she had cooked all night, the two of them have a fight and Brooke dumps Gary.

Brooke doesn’t really wish to break up, she only wishes that Gary would appreciate her without her having to ask; However everything Brooke does simply reinforces the break up in Gary’s eyes. Like throwing him off the bowling team, dating other men and inviting her very gay brother around for singing practice - all to get on Gary’s nerves. Gary on the other hand, continues to be unaware that Brooke is acting out purely because she cares about him and moves in a pool table, offering Brooke’s dates tips on how to get into her pants and playing loud music throughout the night.

Neither of them can afford the apartment on their own and eventually the two of them both agree to move out. But as the countdown to their permanent separation continues and the two of them are set to part ways… will the couple see past the barriers that they have put up in order to see they are actually still in love with one another?

One thing I should say, and this isn’t necessarily a bad thing; this is a bizarre comedy. For the relationship scenes and fights, watching two people’s lives fall apart, this comes across as drama rather than comedy. Then, every now and then, there is a scene featuring the wonderful Justin Longwho stars as the film’s comic relief – Brooke’s gallery’s quirky receptionist.

Excluding Justin Long’s character, former ‘Wedding Crasher’ Vaughn gets all the smart lines and comes across as his usual, witty self (which is hardly surprising), while Aniston does an admirable job at playing her character ‘Rachel’ from Friends…again.

While for me, this fails on the comedy stakes - after all, breaking up is very rarely the most amusing thing to happen in real life and probably not the best thing to portray in a comedy; this film does work as a quirky drama as The Break Up does a great job of accurately portraying the venom, the harsh words and the impossible situations that couples get themselves in when their relationship falls apart.

While this unfortunately cannot be compared with other break up comedies such as The War of the Roses; this will still keep your attention for the duration – if only to discover whether the Brooke and Gary get back together. This is a very well directed movie, with a quality cast, add this to your list and then pick a side.

a typical jennifer aniston film , they decide to break up and after a long time of arguing and bickering over the apartment etc decide to get back together, a good movie to watch.

to be honest i was very dissapointed with this film, it is normaly the kind of film i would love to watch but it is so boring and not very funney. nothing really happens and the story line is quite poor. the trailer made the film look great but unfortunatly the parts shown are the only good bits of the film.

this film was ok but could of been a lot better. i think this is a film that you can say i have seen it and thats about it really.

this was a very funny film, and i enjoyed watching it, was a little disapointed with the ending but still really good. didnt like the fact there were alternate endings though :(

this is quite an entertaining film,i wouldnt rate it so much as a comedy its definatly not in the vein of ben stiller comedy's
