The Brave One (DVD)

New York radio host Erica Bain (Jodie Foster) has a life that she loves and a fiance she adores. All of it is taken from her when a brutal attack leaves Erica badly wounded and her fiance dead. Unable to move past the tragedy, Erica begins prowling the city streets at night to track down the men she holds responsible. Her dark pursuit of justice catches the public's attention, and the city is riveted by her anonymous exploits. But with the NYPD desperate to find the culprit and a dogged police detective (Terrence Howard) hot on her trail, she must decide whether her quest for revenge is truly the right path, or if she is becoming the very thing she is trying to stop.

The Brave One 2007 is set in New York City, where Erica Bain (Jodie Foster) loses her fiancé David (Naveen Andrews of LOST), and sets out to take her revenge on the thugs responsible for ruining her life.

NYPD Detective Mercer (Terrence Howard) is trying to catch a new killer (Bain) before "he" kills again. There is a twist at the end when Bain is finally apprehended, which you'll need to watch to find out!

In all, the film is well set - very well cast and the story line leaves you hanging on the edge of your seat at every scene. Despite Andrews not being given a real opportunity to show his acting skills throughout (due to dying so early on!) Foster's great acting retains the quality of the film and makes it an easy 8/10 - well worth the bargain price you can now buy it for.

I expected to keep comparing "Death Wish". This film however, stands well without comparison. I very much enjoyed Jodie Foster's performance in "Silence of the Lambs" and this performance retains the sense of anticipated peril, but with added maturity. The 18 certificate I thought well chosen. Also my feelings of empathy with the lead rather than "Yeah! get 'im!" drew me more into the story. Despite now knowing this story, I'd certainly recommend to others.

This film is an example of Jodie Foster at her best. The film centres on Fosters character as she goes on a one woman vigilante crusade to rid New York of it's less disirable members. We missed this at the cinema and only bought it off Ebay after a recommendation from a friend, I can highly recommend this to anyone but the film is very violent at times so the 18 certificate is justified.

I seen this at the cinema and equally enjoyed it on DVD. Great film good plot, Jodie played her role well and kept the film interesting throughout. I am not a Jodie Foster fan but this film changed my mind.

I wanted to see this film when it came out, but never got round to seeing it and when I did I really enjoyed it, even at the end when you think you know what's going to happen, it changes! I think Jodie Foster is a really good actress and most of her films are really good and this is one of them.

A very good and moving film, however I do believe that this is not one of Jodie Fosters most memorable film that she has acted in. The story line shows the strength and determination of woman whose life has been turned upside down by a group of youths who killed her fiance and left her for dead. She goes on a spree and guns down criminals when the system lets her down. Good film to purchase would recommend it.

Average simpathetic vigilanty / good cop movie; unconvincing early love interest;
but the laugh out-loud twist at the end makes it worth the watch.

i like this movie because its gripping, thrilling, and i can totally understand why she does what she does in the movie! the product was in very good condition and i got it for a very good price!

i think that jodie foster is back to her best , great film with jodie foster plays a radio dj that goes after her boyfriend killers . if you like acossed you will like this one

i bought this from woolworths and paid £16.97 for it,was certainly worth every penny,this was a super thriller,jodie foster was excellent as usual,definatley buy it.i loved the ending.

Bought it as original DVD and a good price,with reasonable postage. Seller new to ebay and unfortunately, the DVD box arrived damaged due to Royal Mail!! Excellent film and disc is in perfect condition. very happy with it. Product would have received an Excellent rating had it not been damaged during delivery as it would have been in perfect condition.

Ithoroughly enjoyed the DVD I am a fan Jody Foster. the story was very good and hope she does more in this line of thrillers
