Borat - Cultural Learnings Of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Of Kazakhstan (DVD)

This movie is so funny, I actually had tears running down my cheeks in some scenes, like the one in the patriotic antique shop or the hotel room with Borat and his producer both naked wrestling with each other. I seldom see comedies because I regard myself as more the serious type, but this movie really tickled me.

Yes, it was gross in some scenes, but like a previous reviewer wrote, it wasn't gross for grossness sake. The movie had a point to make and it succeeded. It revealed the limitations and small-mindedness, the bigotry, racism and homophobia of many segments of our population.

I am not saying this film will be funny for everyone. Maybe not everyone likes to see a 300 pound, hairy and disgustingly obese man run around naked, getting bit on the teet, and having his massive bare buttocks slamming down on another man's face, but when you buy a ticket on the Borat Express, you got to stay on for the ride until the end.

To me this film was refreshing. In a time when over-budget, A-list star movies leave you wanting more, Borat looks and feels much more like an independent film. I sincerely hope that one of the reasons this film was made was to strike Hollywood where it hurt. You can make a funny and entertaining movie without a billion dollars. I only wish Borat had a derogatory joke about Steven Spielberg, but insulting the most successful director of all time (and a fellow Jew), well maybe even Borat has his limits.

I personally enjoyed every part of this movie. Some of my favorite scenes were the yard sale ("I come to collect your tears Gypsy"), the hotel room wrestling match ("How dare you make hand party with my Pam-eel"), and of course the village ("Dis is my sister, she is number 4 prostitute in all Kazakhstan"). I am not running for office and I have no need to be PC. This movie made me laugh out loud several times. From the driving lesson to the dinner on Secede Ave. From the rodeo to the gun store ("What is best gun to kill a Jew?"). This film is something I can watch again and again.

I hope there is a sequel.

watched it thinking this is going to be very funny,
and it just wasn't my humour at all, granted there are bits that are funny, but far more that made me not wanna watch as it was repulsive or just plain sick, not my kind of funny, and i like typical funny films, if you liked ALi G, it defo doesn't mean you'll like this

Absolutely a classic. Made me laugh from start to finish. He must have offended so many groups making this film but I think that he gets away with it because you can see that he only does it to wind people up. It pushes the boundaries of film making by being totally outrageous. In a room full of people two thirds will be in stitches whilst the remainder will wonder what the fuss is about. Whether you love or hate the film will depend on your sens
se of humour. I stronly recommend that you watch it at least once.

When this film was released in the cinema I was aware of the media attention that surrounded it, so I obviously didn't go. I waited and waited and waited. I heard through friends how good this film was, how it made them laugh and how it was critical of almost everything it brought up. Only then did I realise I had to see it, and I have to admit it was so good I saw it twice. Borat is an excellent concept, and if your someone who is fed up of the 'nanny state' we live in, get this film and spend an evening indoors because I promise you it'll be worth it. Not something for all the family as there are some scenes which are very offensive, and if you are an easily offended person, I'd stay clear of this film, but other than that it is pure comedy. Its something different to what is normally released in the cinemas and in film, and thats properly why its been such a success. In the words of Borat, I'd give this film a "High Five" and would recommend it to anyone who just wants to escape from 'our' world.

This film had me laughing right from the start .... Cohen, at his manic best!.
I had never seen anything much that this guy has done, but was watching a prog on tv about him and they showed clips of this film ... you always wonder if they have just shown the best bits and the rest of the film is crap .... but decided to get it and see .... and no ... there are plenty of outragious fun through out the film.

In my opinion this is one of the funniest film ever made. But I know that a lot of people may find it offenceive. But I don't. I think that ever bit of it is hilarious and I like the fact that the characters in the film thought that Borat was actually making a real documentary for Kasikstan and they just got the piss taken out of them.

If your not easily offended buy this film!

I bought this for my teenage son he had hired it and loved it. The movie is hilarious and the whole family love it.

Superb film, the funniest i've seen in a long time. Truly unmissable, it will make your ribs hurt with laughter. I don't think I will ever get tired of watching it.

It has a few funny moments but nothing too special and thats coming from a jackass fan. Worth what I paid for it though.

I'd seen the film before, and its just something you can watch again and again. I'd definately recommend It, but only to ages 13+
