Boogeyman (DVD)

This film does even deserve a review but i need to vent on how terrible it actually is. Im so glad i didnt see this at the cinema. it was a choice between this and "Hide and Seek", Im so glad i chose that movie! This was rented.

The film is pretty short under 1 hour 20 minutes actually. The storyline is very bad. but the main problem with this film is the Charectors... the lead actor is such a bad actor! he is complete Cardboard. the whole film lacks anything. It is one of the worst films i've ever seen.

I like horror. and this doesnt have it. Everything happens to quickly. that 10 minutes into the film they are already in the thick of it. Its terrible. theres no "getting to know the charectors" in this movie. It is like they have no personality and are just cardboard figures!

I cant emphasise the cardboard enough... id rather watch a piece of it than this film... AVOID THIS MOVIE!

Story:
Stephen T. Kay's stylish thriller, BOOGEYMAN, takes one of horror's mythical figures and transports him into the 21st century. Though Tim Jensen (Barry Watson) is a successful magazine editor with a beautiful girlfriend (Tory Mussett), his childhood continues to haunt him. When he was only eight years old, Tim watched his father get eaten by the Boogeyman, or at least that's how he remembers it. Of course, no one believed him then--not even his mother (Lucy Lawless), who has just recently passed away. Wracked with guilt for not having been there to say goodbye, Tim decides to spend the night in his childhood home and confront the Boogeyman once and for all. But before that happens, he reunites with his old friend Kate (Emily Deschanel) and meets a young girl (Skye McCole Bartusiak) who is holding onto a dark secret of her own. Kay and cinematographer Bobby Bukowski pack BOOGEYMAN with enough tension for several films, finding terror in every doorknob and around every corner. Watson and Deschanel deliver grounded performances even as the supernatural insanity swirls around them. The result is a work that relies more on shocks and thrills than actual blood and guts in order to frighten its audience.

Comments:
This movie is extremely slow and boring and you REALLY have to keep your mind with it and think about it, and watch movie a couple of times before you finally start to understand stuff in the movie.

When you've seen it a couple of times then finally you start to understand it, and say '' yeah, now i see it, hey that's pretty cool '' .

I wouldn't advice this movie to people under a certain age or intellect, if you just want blood & guts being shed, then don't watch this movie, if you want action, then don't watch this movie, but if you want a movie to think about during and afterward of the movie, then go watch it.

Iam a big fan of horror movies and this is one i can watch over and over you never seem to get sick of it.

my daughter loves lucy lawless,so any film she is in my daughter likes.she has the complete xena warrior princess collection.

I had actually seen this film before but having number 2 & 3 of DVD and not remembering what happened in 1 decided to get it on DVD too. It's an ok film and theres scarey bits to it but the storey is confusing, not really understanding what the boogeyman is all about and why it exist just to certain people. Whereas 2 & 3 gives you more info.
Watch is dark to get more of a spook and don't go into any dark cuboards for a while lol.

A young man returns to his childhood home where his father was taken by 'the boogeyman.' He sees a little this little girl, who he has never seen before and she asks if it is true that his father was taken. This puts the thought back into his mind. After this, people close to him start disapearing, and he slowly starts to realise where they are going. It all comes round well to and end in which he must face the boogeyman where it all started...

I found the film/storyline good all the way through, however I was disappointed with the rather simple ending. Great build up but after the film had finished I was still left waiting for the 'wow' factor, but unfortunately didn't come.
Good film overall though.

I'M NOT A FAN OF ALL THE NEW HORROR FILMS, BUT THIS ONE WAS ACTUALLY A GOOD WATCH.
I ENJOYED THE ENDING, AND WAS MADE UP THAT THE GUY IN THE MOVIE DIDN'T HAVE TO RIP UP FLOORBOARDS TO SOLVE THE CLUE LIKE THEY DO IN VIRTUALLY EVERY OTHER FILM RELEASED THESE DAYS.
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR FANS OF ULTRA VIOLENT HORROR SLASHERS BUT FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS A CREEPY NIGHTS VIEWING THIS IS COOL

A GOOD MOVIE OVERALL

Watching trailers for this film give me the totally wrong impression, I assumed it would be a really scary horror flick about the boogeyman and be really creepy.
Alright it did have a creepy vibe through it but I was waiting to jump throughout the whole film, even places in the movie where I expected to be scared passed with nothing more than a shadow in the corner.
Plot is really quite difficult to follow, need to watch it a few times to get certain bits but still confusing as there is no indication as to why he keeps seeing his mother in his dreams as a rotting corpse??
The story could have been used so much better, at certain points there is a draw into the story but then it quickly changes and loses you again.
The ending could have been far better, the whole movie this guy is scared senseless of the boogeyman but when it comes down to it all he has to do to get rid of him is to throw objects at it and kick him in the face back into the closet??
Personally I thought the film was a bit boring could have had more scares and a better storyline.

It's a good film but not something I would waste more than 10 pounds on so this is why I restored to ebay to find it cheap.

I would recommend you watch it if you liked to be jumped.

i loved this flim i had one before but it broke and i had to get another as it is funny plus th fact i think steve martin is funny it tell a story about a gril that has been in prison and find live hard on the outside and turns to steve martin to help her find her way but things don,t go to plan a must see flim.

I decided to buy this dvd because I love horror films.

I thought it was a very good film although you didn't actually see much of the Boogeyman itself at all. It did have me scared in quite a few places.

i wanted this film as lots of friends etc have seen it this story is set around a childs nightmares.one childs nightmare the boogeyman, is still in his memory as clear as if it really happened 16 years previous when a creature devoured his father

the story to the film is good but shame about the ending, it kept you guessing abot what was going to happen next

I loved this movie the camera work is brilliant and the story is well thought out, i thought it was better than the grudge by the same director.
