Bob Newhart - Something Like This (CD 2001)

Idecided to buy this because I had an LP of his from when I was Child, but over the years it was lost.

This chap is so funny and it brings back many happy memories !

If you're looking at this review you must know something about Bob Newhart's style of comedy, he is without doubt one of the funniest 'fly on the wall' comedians ever! I grew up listening to my Dad laughing at this guy, and as I grew older it became clear why. This CD captures all of Bob Newhart's funniest sketches plus more besides, and has proved timeless as now I listen to this cd myself (having just bought it for my Dad, who's face lit up when he unwrapped it).
If you got far enough to read this review then go on.....buy it, it'll chase away those recession blue's!!

the cd is very funny and was bought for my dad's birthday. and he popped the cd open in the cd player and laughed his head of.

The humour is timeless. Its a pity that more young people do not have exposure to such gems on the radio today. I bought the CDs because I wanted my children to share the humour that I had enjoyed listening to these tracks so many years ago.

Bought this as last minute Christmas gift. It had all recordings on that I wanted. Although the order was last minute it came in time and was in good condition. Fully satisfied with the product and service. This was the second supplier I tried for this product. The first could not deliver in time and the second made no promises, said it would depend on the Royal Mail. They were up-front and helpful and the product arrived within 4 days. Would be very happy to deal with this seller again.

Complete best of Bob Newhart material - excellent stuff from the master storyteller. Who can forget The Driving Instructor or Nutty Walt Raleigh?
No swearing just gentle humour from this American genius. Superb!

This is a great collection of well known and some not so well known stories. Each one is told by the great man himself in his own inimitable way, and unlike some comedy that after listening to once is never played again, this collection never fails to raise a smile every time is played.

I have always enjoyed Bob Newhart so it was great to be able to get this CD. He was as funny as I remembered from the 50s and 60s, and to hear the classic 'Introducing Tobacco to Civilization' again was a real treat!

If you like old style american humour, then this is for you. Unique,laid back style with excellent delivery on all kind of topics. Excellent!!

For those who do not know about Bob Newhart this CD gives a comedy slant on life of the 60', 70's and 80's that is still relevant today - perhaps even more funny.

I had an LP by Bob Newhart and jumped at the chance of a CD. This is a must for Newhart fans good clean stand up comedy!

This is an excellent CD which I have heard many times before but previously on an old LP. I have given one copy to a friend to keep them amused.

This CD contains some of Bob Newhart's most famous "monologues" told only in the way that he can, i.e. hilarious! You really do "see" what he's talking about, although there's only him talking, and that lets your own imagination run riot. The way he describes the first "smokers" on 'Introducing Tobacco to Civilization' would, I'm sure, only help people to give up (with a smile on their face, hopefully), but, if you're flying away on holiday don't listen to 'The Grace L Ferguson Airline (and Storm Door Co)' first.

Anybody who's ever heard of Bob Newhart would love this CD and, if you haven't heard of him, give it a chance and laugh yourself silly. Highly recommended!!

I saw this and remembered the "Introducing Tobacco to Civilisation" monologue from when I was very young. I thought it was hilarious then and wondered if it would have stood the test of time. It has - still has me in stitches! A CD full of memories and side-splitting laughter for those days when you feel less than positive. This may be an old recording but each track is still as funny today as it ever was - one funny man.

I first heard this on a vinyl album, the tracks The Driving Instructor and Introduction of Tobacco to Civilisation are timeless classics. I was very pleased to get this on CD just for these tracks alone but there are many more monologues, which I have never heard of before, also included on this double CD Its a great buy at under £10.00 I recomend it to anyone with a sence of humor?

A GOLDEN OLDIE THAT HAS STOOD THE TEST OF TIME - JUST. i FIRST HEARD THIS CD THIRTY YEARS AGO AND WANTED TO HAVE MY SON HEAR IT BUT THE HUMOUR WAS ONLY APRECIATED BY ME SO IT MUST BE AN AGE THING.

I bought this for my wife. She thought it would have some of his real clasic tales. Some were good... others ... not to her taste. It didn't do anything for me at all. Maybe I'm loosing my sense of humour...but I don't think so. Perhaps I was looking for something NOT THERE.
