I had to buy his when I came across it as I used to have it on cassette but over the years and change of addresses it was long gone.

I have enjoyed listening to it and being immediately transported back in time.

I bought this album on vinyl in the 1970's, loved it, but then forgot it for 30 years. Whilst strolling down nostalgia lane recently I wondered whether Joni would have stood the test of time, so bought 'Blue' on impulse. And my verdict? This album is as good today as when she first recorded it.

You have to be in the right mood of course, because the title describes the way it makes you feel. But if you want soothing, Blue, All I Want and A Case of You are just the ticket. Carey and This Flight Tonight are a little more upbeat (in tempo if not in lyrical content), which gives the album a balanced feel. And every track tells a story, tugging at emotional heartstrings.

Joni Mitchell's voice is one that you either love or hate (or so I'm told - I love it of course), but there is no denying the range and power that she possesses and it's ideally suited to the music she has chosen to produce. Some of the tracks here are live, which could expose a lesser performer, but Joni comes through with flying colours, matching studio standards and demonstrating her true quality. So, if you've heard anything by Joni Mitchell and liked it, you will just love this album.
