Album Notes
Massive Attack: Mushroom, 3-D, Daddy G.Additional personnel includes: Tricky, Horace Andy, Shara Nelson (vocals); Paul Johnson (bass). One of the 90s' early classics and a landmark album in dance music, Bristol's Massive Attack invented the 'trip-hop' genre, an ambient form of hip-hop. Born from the ashes of pioneering sound system unit the Wild Bunch, the core trio of Daddy-G, Mushroom and 3-D were joined on Blue Lines by soul diva Shara Nelson, reggae singer Horace Andy and a young Tricky. Together they fashioned a strikingly modern urban soundtrack that added an emotional intensity to the sparseness and studied cool of hip-hop, with Nelson's impassioned vocals on 'Unfinished Sympathy' helping to create one of the songs that defined the 90s.

If you wanna hear better then the only way is to listen to Protection... A Superb album with the legendary song Unfinished sympathy. If Jeff Noon were to make any off his books into film then Massive Attack would without doubt be involved!!!

Big thanxs to Massive attack, went to the feckler club (on the boat in Bristol) many years ago and they played a hip hop set, blew me away, switched on, tuned in and dropped out.....Life just got better...............Nuff said amigos!

excellent album, one of my favourite of all time

Very joyful, variety of vocalists, very descriptive of its time - early 90s with echoes of the frustrations of Thatcher's Britain.

F-ing LOVE this album - essential to any music fan.

For me, this CD represents a revisit to some of the best of Massive Attack. On hearing it again after a number of years I was transported back a decade or more. As an intro for the first time listener to trip hop you can't get better. My 4 yr old son just loves singing along to Hymn Of The Big Wheel! He also likes Safe From Harm and Unfinished Symphony. What better recommendation can you get... buy it and chill, because we need to..

  EBAY FOREVER!!!!!!
Review created: 04/02/07

the cd was brand new with the plastic still covering at the same price as a mcdonalds meal. this is why ebay is probably gonna take over as the main form of retail shopping. why trapes around shops on a high street when you can buy safely from the comfort of your own home for a fraction of the price.
in all, a great cd and anyone who is looking at this review thierfore likes massive attack and knows the quality they get from any album produced by these musical hero's.

  MASSIVE ATTACK blue lines

I originally decided to get a copy of this great cd due to extreme fond memories that the music gave to me but unfortunately I had lost the copy that I had years before and so thought I would try e-bay and as always a perfect result! by buying this one cd it has triggered off lots of thoughts of other, old skool cds that i loved but had lost and up to know the sellers on e-bay have not let me down, not with choice, price, condition and postage and I have been able to get every single cd that I wanted and even the second hand ones have been perfect all round!! I have not spent more than a fiver on any of these cds I have bought inc this one. So if you have never bought cds or dvds off e-bay due to thinking the quality would be rubbish then let me tell you, you would be wrong, up to know I have bought 4 cds and not one has let me down and they have been off 4 different sellers to!!!
