Blood Diamond (DVD)

I have to say after watching this for the first 30 minutes, I wasn't particularly taken with it, however by the end I was completely immersed. Djimon Honsou sold me completely, at first I thought he would be nothing but the white guy's dumb companion, but he proved himself to be easily the equal. Leonardo DiCaprio also acted his little socks off, believe it or not. It was a sensitive story line handled brilliantly by all the cast and crew and I cannot recommend it enough.

And it gives me a moral excuse not to buy the girlfriend dimaonds any time soon!

Great movie with a fantastic plot and great actors (Leonardo Di Caprio is fantastic in in). Surely an oscar winning movie but it didn't get one. If you haven't seen it its recommended!!!!!!!!

This film is set in war torn Sierra Leone in 1999.

Leonardo Di Caprio plays an Ex Mercenary turned smuggler and Dijmon Hounsou plays a Mende Fisherman, in the middle of the explosive civil war.

These 2 men join for 2 desperate missions : recovering a rare pink diamond of immense value and rescuing a fisherman's son, conscripted as a child soldier into the brutal rebel forces ripping a swath of torture and bloodshed across the alternately beautiful and ravaged countryside.

I found this film to be very moving from a human story perspective.

I don't know about the dvd as the buyer never sent it,just stole my money.It probably didn't help that Ebay had stopped his account but didn't bother to tell me though.
I saw the film at the cinema & that was brilliant,a great storyline & great acting,especially by Dicaprio.

Excellent dvd. Just seemed to get better and better as it went on.
Had a real political story to it as well in the way that third world economy is being used in order to supply the west with diamonds. Africans trade the diamonds to purchase arms and coerce young children into fighting and killing. Leonardo Di Caprio is excellent as the diamond trader. Tough but with a heart. Black actor from gladiator plays a moving role as father desperate to find his family and track down the diamond that he found and hid.

Best dvd that I have watched for some time.

REALLY GOOD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FILM, THE DICAPRIO ACTS HIS LITTLE BEHIND OFF IN THIS FILM VERY VERY GOOD!

First I want to say I went into this movie with hopes of it being great but had heard numerous slams against the acting, mostly Leo's accent.
Wow were they DEAD WRONG!
The movie delivers everything it should have and more.
I like going into a movie and being entertained and learning something at the same time, especially at the ridiculous costs of tickets now days.
I must say the movie was graphic at times but I think it needed to be in order to get the point across so if you have trouble watching terrible things happen to people including children then I wouldn't recommend this movie.

Overall I hope this movie gets some nods when it comes around to Oscar time, Leo deserves a nod for sure whether it be from this movie or from The Departed. So if you don't have a problem with violence and want to learn something and be entertained at the same time then this is the movie you want to see! Kudos to Ed Zwick and everyone involved in making this wonderful film, it was a real treat to watch.

what a great film, non-stop action from start to finish, Leonardo Di-Caprio is brilliant as the mercenery turned smuggler, what a difference from his early days, ie, Titanic & the beach, stellar performances from Jennifer Connelly & Djimon Hounsou. Very much recommended.
