Blaupunkt DAB35

A very nice car stereo. It uses 2 forms of security - removable front panel and keycard that goes into the SD card slot. The DAB tuner is great and FM/AM reception are good fallbacks too. CD playing works well and can cope with mp3 CDs. The only criticism I have is with the SD card mode: only FAT16 SD cards are supported, and it seems difficult to get some cards to work at all. Blaupunkt say a max. size of 512MB will work, though I have a 1GB card that works. Given that the unit was first on sale in 2005 it is pretty inexcusable that it can't support FAT32, or at least that the FAT16 support that is there isn't more robust.
But this is a fairly minor point: SD card mode is best saved for recording from DAB radio, as the unit has space on the back for 2 auxiliary inputs that can be used with your existing media player. Overall the unit is excellent, with decent controls and thankfully has avoided the cheap and tacky blue LED look, instead going for a clean white-on-black display on black and silver plastic, with red control highlights: it fits in very nicely with the rest of the vehicle interior.
