The Blair Witch Project (DVD 2003)

I think this movie is very good unlike the first review. I think it is very freaky as it is all to do with messing with your head. I think the idea of it being a true story is also very chilling and seeing the Young adults last movements before disapearing is very scary. I persoanlly think it is a brilliant movie and thats why i am bidding on it.

I was so disappointed the first time I saw this film. I waited until night time so everything was dark and spooky. And what happened....I got bored and annoyed by the fact that for most of the film you are looking up someones nose. I really don't see what all the fuss was about when it first came out.

The first time I saw this film i really liked it. It created tension and horror without a typical madman with an axe chopping people's heads off. The second time I saw it is was well...laughable. It lost all of the tension the second time, which might seem obvious but by watching the climax I couldn't help myself laughing. It is one film that you must see though, and a film I really enjoyed the first time around.

Several years ago, I watched "The Blair Witch Project" and it absolutely terrified me.
Now that I'm a little bit older, I recently got this film out of my local video shop to see if it still had the same effect on me and sure enough it still scared the hell out of me.
A lot of people think this film is rubbish because it was all filmed on video cameras and they tend to be a bit shaky in some parts. I however, think that this film is has a very original concept and that's what makes it scary.
It starts off like any other film with three students excited to be doing a project about the Blair Witch. They do it in a documentary style way and interview the locals that live in Burkittsville, Maryland. However, as soon as they enter the woods things start to take a turn and the three students end up becoming lost and frightened as there are creepy goings on outside their tent at night.
Even though the story about them being missing isn't true (they're all actors) its still a great story and I loved the fact that it left me feeling genuinely terrified afterwards. But if you're the type of person that has no imagination whatsoever then maybe you should'nt watch this film.
If you love feeling scared, you should definitely watch this film.

i bought it because all my friends at school had seen it and i hadnt. i was a little bit dissapointed because i was told it was really scary and it was only midly jumpy apart from that it is a good film.

This film is truly awesome!!

It has everything a good scary movie needs, The tension, the gore (even though its right at the end), the sinister plot and the shaky camerawork which all adds the the effect that its real and i think the idea of it being real is what makes this film truly a freaky classic!

Loved the film the first time i seen it.... just introduced my son to the film,he felt it a bit slow to start.. but when they got lost ..he strated to enjoy... and was taken aback with the fantastic ending...

I loved the blair witch project since its release in 1999. I love the fact its filmed on a small budget. Using two cameras and three student film makers.

Also the fact theres non of the special effects(even though i love these in some movies)

It just gives you something to think about.

Very scary film watching it first time. Great to what it in the dark by yourself. I dont usually watch scary movies, I think they are too overated, but the film is different to the usual dramatic blood and gore, its more of a mental scare, making you wonder whats going to happen next, instead of the obvious ended with all of the characters dead. This film messes with your mind, but its so intresting.

The Blair With Project is one of those rare horror movies that is still scary and creeps you out, but has none of this hacking off people's limbs that you see in Saw and Hostel. That stuff isn't even scary to me!
I watched The Blair Witch Project on Film 4, and the way it created something of this calibur with a tiny budget is amazing. The plot isn't true, yet pulls and draws you in in the way it is amateurly done, with just a video camera and three students. Throughout the movie, you see voodoo dolls and scarecrows made of sticks, piles of rocks placed in strange places and bundles of stick, one containing organs and body parts of their missing friend, Josh. The ending of the movie is amazing, and leaves you guessing what happened to them all.
I still thought of the movie a couple of days after I watched it, and it creeped me out in the daytime. It didn't help we were going to a wood to pick up sticks for our log fire the next day! I suppose The Blair Witch is like Marmite, some people, like me love it, but others think it is a lame, low-budget film that isn't remotely scary. I believe in the paranormal, so the thing that scares me when I watch this is that this is more likely to happen, in my opinion, than something where a pyscho kidnaps you and cuts your limbs off. Howver, in this day and age, I suppose that's possible too.

i remember watching this film when i was a kid and it scared me lol not any more tho, so i thought i would buy it. now im bidding on the seconded one to see what happens.

One of the most talked about films of the 90s it was made in the understanding it was based on true events when in fact it was not its nothing more than a play for the cameras.
This is what makes the film a cult classic it plays as a documentary when in fact its a motion picture mouths after the film hit cinemas people were still shocked and confussed by the films story (was it real did it happen?) answer NO this is just a great cult film that will always be part of cinema history

I like this film as it is really scary and there is lots of suspense. I bought it as the one i already have is really crap quality so i thought i'd get a better one.

this film is a classic.if you like to be scared then this is for you,i love the fear of the unknown,and this film portrays that fear.one of the best films that is a welcome in my ever growing horror collection.

What a lot of rubbish, don't bother buying this unless you are a teenager who happens to have witch experience and can relate to invisible witches in forests that dont do anything particularly scary....maybe I'm not giving this film much chance......actually yes I am and it's still rubbish, save your money and go do something less boring instead like reading this review and others like it!!!!

The three students, Heather Donahue, Michael C. Williams, and Joshua Leonard (which are the actors real names), start by talking to people in town, some of whom have lived there all their lives, about the legend. Some are skeptical, some true believers. A few different versions of the legend pop up, and the group gets ready to trek into the woods to film the old cemetery from the legend.

But strange things start happening. Noises come out of the woods at night, they get lost and lose their map, and soon the three are starving and cold and bickering through the forest, video taping and filming all the way.

The movie's strength is realism. The students are all likable and unlikable in different ways, with Heather leading the way with a false confidence and Michael doing more than one really stupid thing along the way. The film portions are in black and white and on cheap stock and the video portions are pretty close to what you see on those old tapes of the family reunion-- so it's not to hard to imagine yourself there. The jerky hand-held motion during most of the filming really draws you into the movie, too.

There's even a little bit to think about after you leave the theater, other than locking your doors and staying out of the woods for a while. Heather holds on to her camera because by looking through it she can keep reality at arm's length. Mike destroys what he doesn't understand. And all three have a very false confidence.

And as for creepiness, this is probably the best "scary movie" since Scream and for a long time before that. This is not, however, a slasher film. It's much more creepy than startling, and does not always follow the rules of narrative. The fact that it doesn't have a conventional plot shape makes it seem all the more real

The starting price was good and in the end had it for a good price, delivery was fast and dvd was in excellant condition. I love scary films and heard about it from a friend so decided to look for it on ebay. Phycological horror where ur always looking over your shoulder

i havent seen this film for bout 6 yrs, it was fantasic the first time and it was fantastic the sencond time, if you are into this sort of thing then i definately reccomened watching it!!

Considering it's not gory or little alien type creatures running around it's seriously scary! You don't see nothing through the whole film which is probally a little bit of a let down at the end but it's very very scary and will keep you on the edge of your seat! Fantastic film, I loved it!

This film is one of the most frightening films i have ever seen.
Knowing it is based on true events makes it even more scary.
It will have you on the edge of your seat right the way through.
Or cuddling up to your partner.
