This film brings back great childhood memories for me, its a real adventure, i would recommend it to anyone who like star wars, and who is around 40 with children or grand children.

Abit disappointing and a water down version of star wars. the red floating droid is very annoying and not lovable.

My older brother always used to tease me that when people went to see this film at the cinema - it was so bright and the camera work was so, all over the place, that they were coming out of the cinema throwing up... the reason i bought it and loved it, was cos when i was a kid - i loved the Black Hole action figures - they were as i remember the first articulated figures of there time and Dan Holland, was the hero in every adventure my action figures had, after that... but then i actually saw the film - it's a bit like a Disney Event Horizon - abandoned ship found tittering on the edge of a black hole - the crew go on board and find Maximillian Schell - the sole survivor (or is he...?!) and then things start to go alittle pear shaped - also starring anthony perkins (psycho fame) & ernest borgnine (from airwolf) every character has there perfect part to play... but my favorites...Vincent (voiced by roddy mcdowell) and Old Bob - how i wish i still had the action figures now...;-)

  The Black Hole revisited
Review created: 04/06/08

Suspend the desire for pinpoint accuracy in a Sci-Fi (this is after all a Disney movie. It's probably not supposed to rival Kubrick's 2001) and just enjoy the story.

This movie wasn't half as bad as the critics would have you believe at the time. Kids will love it and even adults can find some enjoyment in watching this.

It was overshadowed at the time but now stands equally alongside many other movies of that type and from thet from that time, as they now all look equally dated.

It's just good clean fun in space with two robots that you can't help but like.

Review created: 27/04/08

this was disneys entry into the galactic pool of big budget sci/fi and to be honest it was a flop.
that aside watching it now it still stand up well to its contemperories.
its good family entertainment without having to think to hard.
the cast was well assembled and there performances were well done.
the effects are still great to watch and very colourful.
i still enjoy it along side star trek the motion picture and star wars.

Black Hole - a little gem
Review created: 26/02/08

I saw this movie many years ago at the cinema and decided recently to sit and watch it with my 9 year old son - he loved it.
The effects are still great and although the characters are a bit wooden the robots V.I.N.CENT, B.O.B and Maximilian are all superb.
Certainly more science fiction than science fact, this is in places a very dark Disney movie.
The only real disappointment is the conclusion - a little ambiguous, but you should decide for yourself.

Great movie,a minor classic of its kind

Right from the powerful ominous opening score, you feel this is going to be a movie of substance. And given the fact this is a Disney movie, you get a pretty gripping sci fi thriller.
Although some of the effect/costumes probably look a little dated now, this is nonetheless a minor classic with a great cast. Will entertain you whether you're 4 or 104.They really don't make them like this anymore.

  The Black Hole

I remember seeing this film as a child, so it holds a nostalgic appeal for me. I've always liked science fiction and this film has a sinister feel from the start which I find fascinating. I especially like the robots, and I find they had more character than some of the humans! This film also reminds me a great deal of the under-rated Event Horizon which is a lot darker.

  Good scient fi movie
Review created: 28/12/06

As a kid, I was a big fan. I was so concentred on the movie than for the first time I didn't go for the usual " wee-Wee " break.
Twenty five later, the movie still have his "magic". Okay! the special effects are a bit old fashion.
The gigantic space ship, alone, lifeless on the edge of the most powerfull force of the universe.
The robot called V.I.N.CENT, the " Buzz lightyear " of the time, is definetly the star of the story. He's brave, fearless and a very good shooter.
Maximillian, the enormous red color robot is scary.
The cold hearted, Dr Reynarth, hide a terrible secret about the crew.
You add some pleasant laser battles, good music, some great actor like Ernest Borgnine and Anthony Hopkins and the whole familly should stay quiet for the rest of the evening.
To see and to buy !!!
