Tom Hanks won rave reviews for his Oscar nominated performance (1988, Best Actor) as a twelve-year old boy trapped inside a thirty-year-old body, in director Penny Marshall's winning comedy. At a carnival, young Josh Baskin wishes he was big - only to awake the next morning and discover he is! With the help of his friend Billy (Jared Rushton), Josh lands a job at a toy company. There, his inner wisdom enables him to successfully predict what children want to buy, making the awestruck, naive Josh irresistible to a beautiful ladder climbing colleague (Elizabeth Perkins). But the more he experiences being an adult, the more Josh longs for the simple joys of childhood. Review ID: 10000000001395656 Was this review helpful? This is such a sweet story of a typical young boy wishing he was all grown up - He makes a wish at the fairground on an old genie machine and the next morning his wish has been granted. It turns out that being big is not all it's cracked up to be. He then goes on an adventure of discovering what it's really like in the big wide world. An excellent movie and a must for any Tom Hanks fans out there. Perfect for those teenagers wishing they were Big too :O) Review ID: 10000000008886431 Was this review helpful? Have just recently cleared out all my videos and trying to replace them with dvds. Was glad to find this classic on ebay. I can't remember how many times i've watched this film but it still brings a lump to my throat at the end when Tom Hanks' character is walking down the street away from the woman he has fallen in love with whilst being 'big'. Be careful what you wish for! It might just come true Review ID: 10000000008702740 Was this review helpful? Report this review |
