  Great Album

Heard this group play one track a while ago on TV & so I pre-ordered the CD, (which when it eventually came out after several date changes) I was not disappointed with it. I love the album, only one thing the tracks seem so familiar that I feel I have been listening to it for ages (not a bad thing). The sound very much reminds me of Rod Stewart and Stereophonics. I love to play this really loudly, it has some great tracks.

  Great record
Review created: 16/02/08

I actually tracked down both the artist and the song title from hearing it played over a gum commercial, did some homework, and the cd showed up at my door just yesterday. Goin through some problems on the whole relationship front, and even with my limioted exposure to his sound, I want to get into a concert of theres and just let go of everything. Too bad they'll probably never be anywhere near New Mexico.

Amazing voice, great songwriting - I love this album!
Review created: 02/02/08

I first heard Ben's Brother when one of the later singles from this album 'Let Me Out' was released back in August 2007. It scraped to number 38 in the charts, and I was so blown away I thought 'This is one of those singles that will be re-released in a few months and be massive'. The singer's voice has a slightly Marge Simpson-esque quality at times, reminiscent of David Gray at others. The quality of the songwriting matches anything James Blunt can produce and in fact reminds me of another great under-rated album of recent years, 'Mr A-Z' by Jason Mraz. When I bought 'Beta Male Fairytales' I was stunned to find that 'Let Me Out' was just one of half a dozen absolutely outstanding tracks. 'God By Another Name' is one of the most heartfelt lyrics I have heard in years; 'I Am Who I Am', 'Rise' and 'Carry On' all have the potential to be sizeable chart singles. The lack of commercial success of this stunning album is mystifying, and I just hope that the minor chart activity it attained will be enough for the record company to agree to a second album by what must be the most talented British singer-songwriter to emerge since the ubiquitous James Blunt. This album rivals Amy Winehouse for British album of 2007.

  Brought me to my knees
Review created: 11/12/07

To my mind there is not another band like Ben's Brother who can pull at your heart strings the way they can. Having recently come out of a bad relationship, a very dear friend introduced me to their music and between Jamie's voice and the heartfelt words in every song, I could slowly feel myself rising above the issues I was having. Having seen them perform last night at Scala in London, I now feel completely at ease and, in a sense, reborn. They knew the order in which to deliver their songs to bring you to your knees and then lift you right up out of it and show you that you CAN face anything. My children are sick to death of me playing Jamie's music over and over again, but I can't help it!! His music is just too good!! Can hardly wait to get wind of their next play dates as I will be there to see them live, yet again. Their album Beta Male Fairytales is one of the best buys ever! Thank you Jamie. I will cherish your music for a long time to come as well as the chance to meet you in person. xxx

  I thought music was dead....
Review created: 17/10/07

Ben's Brother is really very good. The songs are singable ( I like to sing along with the CDs I listen to.) and the words are heartfelt. I haven't heard a CD this good from begining to end since Keane's debut album a few years back. It's melodic pop at it's best. Thank goodness I stumbled across this group because they are totally off the radar in the States! What a shame.

  Music To The Ears
Review created: 01/09/07

Having heard snippets on the advertising campaign build up to this album, I had to find out more about Ben's Brother. First I listened to a few of the tracks on Ben's Brother's MySpace page then ordered me a copy of Beta Male Fairytales. I was instantly hooked. From the singer's husky voice (which reminded me of a cross between Stereophonics, Climie Fisher and Rod Stewart) to the deep, meaningful lyrics, there isn't anything not to like. There is nothing pretentious about this album. It is pure magic from start to finish. I dare you not to like it.

  A Band with a big future - that's "Ben's Brother."
Review created: 05/08/07

I first heard of Ben's Brother on Radio 2; first "Shine" and then "Let me Out", and each time I heard this haunting voice, full of raw emotion and singing words with such depth of meaning, I was hooked. I searched on eBay and found a copy of this CD and luckily I bought it. Each of the 12 tracks is very enjoyable, but his "Bad Dream", "I am Who I am" and "God by Another Name" are brilliant. I rate this Band up there along with Keane, James Morrison and James Blunt. As a singer-songwriter, Jamie is second to none. In my opinion, he and his Band will be around for a long time to come.
