If you like SIFI then you will love BSG. Unlike the original series this one looks personnel conflicts, as well as one that will make you think long after watching. Excellent acting, and CGI makes this the best sifi programme around.

Battlestar Galactica - Series 3 - Complete (DVD)

Mmm...i am not that good at writing, this is my first review!
I purchased Battlestar Galactica the mini series and since then i have become a total fan.The series is a bit like the origional, well,in character names and general plot line only.Everything, and i mean everything else is totally differrent, there are adult undertones to the stories, complex loves between the humans, forbidden love lines, but the most strange is the love between human and cylon! There are twists aplently in this the latest series, with the blond goddess of the cylons becomeing a prisoner on the battlestar galactica itself! And the ending of series 3 is a total cliff hanger,we final discover who the final 5 cylons are,and boy was i shocked!!!!
If you have seen any of the other series then you will not be disappointed in this the 3rd series,it just seems to get better and better, the plot lines, interactions, cylon religious beliefs, love conquering all,and the sepecial effects. If your thinking of getting this dont,GO and get this!!!!!!

A Very Good season for the Galatica
Review created: 25/10/09

One of the best science fiction shows and if you share my view of the original being campy (albeit fun at times) then this realistic, gritty and character driven series will probably make you think of the galactica and its crew in a new light. Characters are genuinely moving and roles are well acted from Edward James Olmos, Katee Sackhoff, Tamoah Pempkett, Jamie Bamber, Tricia Helfer, Mary McDonnell - there is hardly a weak link in the cast. There may be times where suspension of disbelief may be required (one bit in an air duct springs to mind as being rather unnecessary) but these are minor bumps in a very satisfying season. With one of the best and consistent casts in the last few years the writing, plots and themes discussed should (hopefully) keep you thinking just for a few minutes more, if not you're probably watching the next episode!

For a tv series the visual effects are top notch, the action consistently gripping with some brave storytelling choices. This is an highly addictive Tv show, perhaps the best compliment that can be made is that if you've not watched the show before or are not interested and you're reading this review that Galactica has done its job and more of bringing sci-fi tv to a wider audience

The region code is the same as in Japan but the cost is only 1/3 (sometimes less). The DVD works great and I recommend this seller.

If you love Battlestar Galactica this is a must have
Review created: 06/07/09

I bought the pilot film of this series and got hooked. I remember it with Lorne Green in it and was pleasantly surprised to find how fantastic the remake is. Better graphics, great plot, everything going for it. It's a bit of a soap in space but better. If that makes sense. A great series for sc-fi lovers. Highly recomended but you'll need to get Series 1 and 2 as well.

  Battlestar Galactica season 3
Review created: 02/06/09

This has to be one of the most brillantly concieved re-makes ever. The Original Series was great if you were very young but this is superb. If you loved the first two seasons then this is for you!I laughed, cried and even dreamt about the well written characters! The special effects are so good that you accept the space ships, stars and galaxys as if it was a sci-fi soap opera!I challenge anyone not to be enthralled in the series, just as other long running franchises generate a whole world of fans(e.g 24 Lost etc.)Battlestar Galactica cannot fail to find a worthy following!Drama and Entertainment at its very best!I intend to buy the next series as soon as I finish this one!

The single best hard hitting , fast paced, slick, big budget sex laced Sci Fi out there! Think Oliver Stone meets Star Trek meets Hill Street Blues with the best models in the world calling and making the shots.

Class. And...dare I say it ...perhaps better than the original? Im not gonna even tell you the answer.

  Battlestar Galactica - Series 3
Review created: 06/04/08

A return to top form for the best and most gritty sci-fi series. Following the Cylons invasion of New Caprica, a resistance forms, things get very messy on the planet before a rescue can be made.

Once back on Galactica, the fall-out of what happened on the planet threatens the survival of the fleet, Lee and the Admiral come to blows and Guyas tries to find out who (and what) he is.....

Brilliant third series, well worth watching.

Review created: 08/03/08

I rarely watch a TV series in real-time these days, waiting patiently each week for the next installment - there's a special thrill in caning the whole lot in one go, bug-eyed with back to back episodes...

There have been some amazing series in recent years, particularly from the US, such as Deadwood and Carnivale, and Dexter's shaping up nicely too. But Battlestar Galactica has topped them all. Old enough to just about remember the original dodgy 80s series, I was pretty resistant initially, but something just clicked: refreshingly strong female characters, the are-they/aren't-they of cylon-spotting, a provocative political subtext, and all the while the twist that they're searching for us, earth...

The cinematography is at times stunning, the story intelligently written, the acting compelling (the boxing episode is outstanding in all of these senses) - it's just great telly, I can't praise this series enough. The only downside was standing in the video shop recently and realising that I was now spoilt: how could anything else be as good? Roll on season frakkin' 4!

Short and simple. It comes in a nice pictured box and the DVD's are in their own separate cases with a short synopsis on what's on the DVD as you would hope, all round good deal for the money and looks good on me shelf too.

  BATTLESTAR GALACTICA SERIES 3
Review created: 25/02/08
by:

Continuing the journey of survivors of the 12 colonies as they battle to find the fabled planet Earth. Who are they battling? Cylons, one time robotic servants, now lethal, implacable enemies of humankind, their one goal to wipe out the last remnants of a once powerful race.
At the end of series 2, the ragtag survivors found a planet, ideal for colonisation, hidden from the cylons who appear to have left the humans in peace at last. Most of the survivors decide to leave the fleet in orbit and start new lives, just as everyone is getting used to the new life, the Cylons arrive, exit the 2 undermanned 'Battlestars' and any ships still in orbit, leaving those on the planet to the mercies of their enemies. Thus ends series 2.
Now, with an ending like that who could possibly resist watching the next series? Certainly not any self indulgent sci-fi fan (hand up).
Series 3 starts 4 months after the Cylon invasion, the main characters having formed a resistance and it is this that dominates the story for the first couple of episodes, showing how previously good people are absorbed into the Cylon influenced society, and join the 'police force' for the good of the many.
Of course, a rescue is planned by the Adammas, Admiral and Commander, and duly carried out is sensational style, with panache and at one point a 'will the Admiral survive or not' scenario unfolds.
A bit weak mid season, the season finale, although not as gripping as season 2, will have you, I am sure, like me waiting impatiently for season 4 and hoping writers strikes do not damage the storyline.

  Battlestar Galactica Season 3 DVD
Review created: 30/01/08

Fantastic, season 3 continues exactly where season 2 left off,as you would expect, and continues the story of the Cylon/Human war and the race to find planet Earth.Very immersive story line with plenty of twists and turns that makes you want to keep watching and by the end leaves you gagging for season 4.Season 3 ties up a few loose ends from the previous series and gives a better understanding of the whole story.Excellent overall acting, with the odd exception of the usuall Starbuck annoying overacting but non the less doesn't distract from the absolute experience that is BATTLESTAR GALACTICA.
A must buy
