Battlestar Galactica - Series 2 - Complete (DVD)

From an explosive start, this series gets better and better. Like any long-running show, you will find the odd dull episode here and there, but you have to watch them because every minute of the show is important to the ongoing story arc - thankfully, in 22 epsisodes of series 2, there are only a couple of slow segments.

The writing is excellent, and thought-provoking to boot, with an excellent cast who were largely unknown before this Galactica, but all of whom deserve to be household names. This is no futuristic fantasy, the cast of the series may be from other worlds but they are without a doubt as human as you and I, and the parrallels between the Galactica universe and events in parts of our own world are clear. Even if you are not usually a sci-fi fan, Battlestar Galactica is first class drama and is to be recommended, featuring stories that could work equally well without fleets of spacecraft.

Be careful buying this box set on eBay, it took me two attempts to get a genuine edition. Some people are advertising "Asian editions" which are clearly nothing more than copies made with a CD-burner equipped PC and case covers printed on colour printers. A non-UK edition would NOT have British and Irish rating labels on the packaging, and look at the bottom of the DVDs themselves - all factory-produced DVDs are silver. If the discs you bought have a blue or lilac tint on the underside, then however good the label on top looks, you have home-made DVD-R copies and need to demand your money back. Don't let this discourage you, there are more honest sellers on eBay than there are crooks. I got my money back on the fakes I unwittingly bought, and got a genuine box-set less than a week later from another eBay seller - for the SAME PRICE!

Have looked closely at the product delivered, and all disks havge been looked after and are clean and free from marks. I have played the first episode and it played sweetly with no hickups in sound and picture quality. I have every faith and confidence that the rest of the DVD disks will play as well as the first.

Why did I buy this item? Well I am an avid follwoer of quality Sci-Fi, and the new working of the battlestar galactica story shows a good eye for detail and solid story lines, and as they say... "God is in the detail, SO SAY WE ALL!" I will continue to hunt for and purchase the rest of the seasons as they become available. Thank you for this forum to say my part.

Short and simple. It comes in a nice pictured box and the DVD's are in their own separate cases with a short synopsis on what's on the DVD as you would hope, all round good deal for the money and looks good on me shelf too.

The item was sealed and brand new. Delivery was superfast - less than 24 from payment. And the DVD itself is the continuation of the characters and events onboard the Galactica. Starbuck is still hot!

This collection continued the excellent plot themes commenced in the mini-series and first season. The cast were well chosen and they deliver their roles with aplomb. There were some notable guest appearances from Michelle Forbes, Lucy Lawless and Dean Stockwell. There is a 'cliff hanger' ending to the season.

One disappointment was that the region 2 set does not include all the 'extras' found on the region 1 discs, only the extras from the first half of the season.

Nevertheless it was still very enjoyable and I am eagerly looking forward to watching the third season.

Hi all, firstly i'm a 49 yr old and been brought up with the sci-fi era, and can say this is an excellent series, since my 30yr old son had the 1st series boxed set we was hooked, although the 3rd season is now finished and we are kind of just catching up, this is much better than that 'Lost' that all the teenagers rave on about, my wife and i cant wait for the 3rd boxed set to appear, and also my younger teenage son is also now hooked, although an old story its a fantastic re-run, much superior to the original, and bang up to date with the special effects and acting quality, there is a lot of shaking throughout the series, a little over the top but does not detract from the whole feel of this superb space production,...thank you.

I had seen odd episodes of this on a UK satelite chaneel, but never managed to get into it - I think it may have been the constant adverts. Having sat down with this, I found the series very gripping and gritty, not at all like the 70s series, and nothing like any of the over sanitised Star Trek series. Each episode stands in its own right, but several storylines run the length of the series.

I really enjoyed it, and would recommend it to anyone. I cant wait for the next series to be available (I decided not to bother with the advert ridden tv channel again). Buy It!

What a fantastic re-make. I am totally addicted to this show. I have re-watched the first two seasons 4 times in a row because they are so good. Even if you didn't like the original sieres you must try this!!! This is BETTER than the original series.

What can I say- incredible, fantastic, brilliant. One of the best Sci-fi series made for TV with the right ballance of battles, character story, adventure and mystery. Makes the 70's series look very sad as well as most modern Sci-fi TV series. Easily stands up to big budget block buster movies.

amazing remake of a seventies classic, leaves you with a very mouthwatering cliff hanger. cant wait for series 3. if you enjoy this genre it is a must see

The series picks up from the cliff-hanger ending of series one and straight away the plot twists and turns unexpectedly. I have really enjoyed the way that the main characters have developed and how (with a couple of exceptions such as Col. Ty's wife) they are more than two dimensional stereotypes. Moral dilemas abound for the crew and can be related to our own current political issues: ethnic cleansing, treatment of prisoners, natural justice, democracy etc. But don't get hung up on all of that; its a "fracking" good series, thoroughly enjoyable to watch, and even better than series one. Oh yes, and hang on at the end of each episode for the directors' cartoon.

got it as a prezzie i know they love battlestar galactica, cant get enought of it.thinks he would love them all on blue ray next ,he watch them again and again.

Some times on eBay you have to be careful when you buy DVD's. Some times you end up with cheap far east copies with subtitles. I was a little worried by the price of this set as it was very low, however when the DVD's arrived I was very happy to find that they were original UK discs. They arrived quickly and very well packed.
Don't take a chance buy from this seller.

An absolutely brilliant series, which just seems to go from strength to strength. Great plot line(s), a must view for Sci Fi fans! The only down side is that it is very addictive and you have to keep watching :-)

The new Battlestar Glactica goes from strength to strentgth, I watched the first series in a mad 48 hrs and am already gripped on the second.
The ideas, political agitation, democracy, threat from within, surprise and engage the viewer at every moment. Each character is well drawn and the most cliched, a female starbuck has a depth and ambiquity that belies the seemingly superficail idea behind her creation.
Interestingly in a secular society, a mainstream tv drama dealing directly with religious beliefs, the president is fortold in the ancient scriptures, the programes equivelant of the old testament shows a bravery of the writers and producers not to talk down to their viewers.
It is without doubt one of the best tv shows currently broadcasting and if the above puts you off in the belief this is a pretentious and staid programme, believe me you would be wrong, the special effects and action scenes are of the highest calibre and will put you in awe of it.
Go out and see it now.

As a fan of season one I had to buy this to carry on the series.I havent been let down so far and would heartily recomend it to any sci fi fan.Quite dark and violent in places and the action is well done.

Tense - Dramatic - Emotional - Gripping - a rollercoaster ride fuelled by excellent scripting and acting. This is not the usual plastic Star Trek type Sci-Fi, it is gritty and unsettling in parts, covering all the awkward themes of human survival. It is a must watch series.

Continues with this multi-layered storyline, and is not just a special effects bonanza. I think it's better than the original.
