  Battlefield Earth- bad movie choice

My brother bought me this DVD as he know's I like sci-fi films, now I think my brother hates me, as it is possibly the worst film I have ever seen.............although I have seen quite a lot.
The story line is pretty weak- the script writers should have been fired, I found myself very easily distracted when watching as there was nothing to 'pull you in' to the story. The characters are very one dimensional, and there was a lot of 'overacting'
John Travolta must have been mad to accept this role, as it could have seriously damaged his career.

Think someone must have sold there soul to the devil to get this film released....................

If you like your sci-fi and are not too discerning then this may b the film for you, otherwise, avoid, save your money for something more worthy.

About the worst DVD I have ever watched as SiFi. Travolta was the reason I thought it might be worth watching. He was supposed to be a giant 3 metres tall. The stilts were in disguise.

  Battle to not laugh....

I once saw what is supposed to be the worst film ever made, "Plan 9 from Outer Space". This film really gives it a run for its money - it is truly awful. Wooden acting, dreadful dialogue, awful story.

Actually, if you are a die-hard "Really BAAAD Film" buff, you might want to buy it.

I bought this DVD to see if it really was the worst film ever (as I'd heard) and to introduce me to the wonderful storytelling ability of L.Ron Hubbard.
The movie is truly awful, only the special effects give it a glimmer of respectability. The acting is terrible, the dialogue child like and the overall feel is tedious.

  Battlefield Earth
Review created: 20/11/08
by:

The year is 3000 AD. Most of humanity was wiped out a good thousand or so years ago by a vicious race of nine-foot tall aliens called Psychlos.

The few remaining pockets of human resistance inhabit the treacherous mountain regions. One such survivor Jonnie Goodboy Tyler (Barry Pepper) decides to venture into the remains of a nearby city to look for food and is swiftly captured by Terl (John Travolta), the Head of Psychlo Security. Incarcerated in a holding facility with hundreds of other homo-sapiens, Tyler vows revenge against his gargantuan captors, and soon acquires enough military and tactical savvy to orchestrate a cunning scheme to blow up the alien homeland, using a mining assignment as a cover to gather explosives, weapons and a fleet of fighter jets...

good film for sci-fi collection

I think it's a cool sci-fi movie. One of those that is easy to watch without having to think too much. Bought to replace an old worn out video.

Entertaining sci-fi, the typical John Travolta humour showing through in scenes. Some parts are typically cheesy, but this only adds to the enjoyment.!

this is a really bad film . it is a b movie in the old style . it is not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination but if you ignore the overacting and poor script, or maybe because of them, it is really funny and entertaining . if you like your sci fi to be not too seriuos this is a blast , enjoy .
