Batman - The Movie (Leslie Martinson, 2003)
Review created: 19/12/06(updated 19/12/06)

I constantly watched this as a kid in the Seventies, and loved it. It's still fantastic today...
Watching this movie as a child, it was everything that you'd want - action, action, action and the good guys saving the day. Watching this movie as an adult, it still has all of these attributes, but the superbly written dialogue and genius comedy sketches that miss you as a child shine through.
Classic picks are watching Batman and Robin walking up the walls on their batrope, Batman trying to dispose of a live bomb on a busy pier full of women with prams, salvation army bands and ducklings, and finally the dynamic duo losing control of the Batcopter only for it to crash land outside a 'Foam Rubber Wholesalers Convention'. Brilliant.
Low budget, and cheesy (definately the way the directors intended) this movie is simply a must for Batman fans of all ages; colourful (and camp) 60's costumes, superbly witty and tongue-in-cheek dialogue ("Some Days you just can't get rid of a bomb") and great baddies (The Joker and the Riddler are exceptional).
My son is four, and he loves this film so much. It's never off the TV, and I couldn't say I'd let him watch the *new* Batman movies at all. There are no dark scenes, no mysterious, deep plots or intimidating bad guys here.
Top drawer for adults and the kids - Humor, Comedy and (non-offensive) Action all rolled into one. Absolute Genius.
