Riddle me this............

I'm a big Batfan and decided i'd better get the films on DVD before my vidoes ware out completely.I can't really say what i like or dislike about this film as i just love all the Batman films; in a life or death situation it has to be Riddlers line of 'Riddle me this...Riddle me that...Who's afraid of the big black bat?'.What i dislike is that there is a slow bit that doen't quite seem to fit with the rest of the film until right near the end. You'll have to watch it as it's not easy to explain.
Although, in my personal opinion, this isn't Jim Carrey's best work, i can't think of anyone current who could have played the Riddler better, that total lunacy that he is able to incorporate in the Riddler is difficult to contain in his alter ego, you sit just waiting for him to say 'Riddle me this...Riddle me that...(etc)'fantastic. Val Kilmer plays a very moody Batman which is superb to see, as Bruce Wayne, i don't think he quite got the 'little boy lost' look that Michael Keaton got in the first two films, but he(Val Kilmer) seems to play him as a much more confident, mysterious person, riveting. Tommy Lee Jones is excellent as Two-face, a little frightening in a wierd sort of way, very exciting. Chris O'Donnell in his debut as Robin is excellent, struggling to cope with the loss of his family, not knowing who he is inside, trying to find a place for himself and wanting revenge on those who destroyed everthing he knew, a truely tragic hero. Nicole Kidman, very beautiful and sultry as always, as she tries to get inside the mind of Bruce Wayne, he is always just out of reach, a mystery that facinates her both professionally and personally. She and Val Kilmer work very well together in this film.
Tim Burton and collegues have tried to stick to the original Batman comics with the very dark sets and gloomy atmosphere, a good job very well done in all the Batman films.
Definately advise parents to view before letting younger children watch as it may be a bit much for some, especially with the Riddler using TV to drain peoples brains. Some violence which is to be expected. My kid's and i enjoy this film and i would recommend it as a family film if you are into fantasy/ adventure or comic books or are fed up with blood and guts every five seconds.
