The Bank Job is inspired by an extraordinary true event, a daring, unsolved robbery, which took place more than 35 years ago in London. A highly-charged thriller, directed by Roger Donaldson and starring Jason Statham and Saffron Burrows, it interweaves a heady combination of intrigue, scandal and danger and has been described by its producers as "an amazing untold story of murder, sex and corruption". In September 1971, thieves tunnelled into the vault of a bank in London's Baker Street and looted safe deposit boxes of cash and jewellery worth millions and millions of pounds. None of it was recovered. Nobody was arrested. The robbery made headlines for a few days and then disappeared - the result of a UK Government 'D' Notice, gagging the press. This film reveals what was hidden in those boxes. The story involves murder, corruption and a sex scandal with links to the Royal Family - a story in which the thieves were the most innocent people involved.

It was a rivetting yarn from start to finish with character actors we all recognise,it turned various corners to the very end,and of course it is a true story.If you enjoy government intrigue and criminal skulldugery with fast police stuff,with bent coppers,you will enjoy this film.

Only now over 30 years later has the story come to light and the truth behind a royal scandal has been exposed.
Great acting by Jason Statham, Saffron Burrows and David Suchet among others keeps this bank caper rolling along at a great pace with twists and turns at every corner, it is one of those films that doesn't have you yawning and looking at your watch. Can't tell you any more, it would give the story away, just to say, buy it and watch it, you won't be disappointed.

Worth renting before buying.
Tis is good movie with a great plot but i did expect more action as it stars Jason Statham but it is mild.
It is funny in places and as i said it is a good plot so is worth watching but won't be for action fans.

I saw this film at the Cinema and could not wait for it to be realesd on DVD. It grips you by the edge of the seat, from the moment it goes, and you have no idea where it will end. Fantastic cast, great script when watching it it's hard to belive that it was filmed today as the setting and back drop are done so well. If you liked "Life on Mars" you will love this film, the connection between the end world and the 70's from both are so real.

I liked every bit of this film from start to finish. The whole film kept you in suspense from start to finish and had plenty of action in it. One thing I did notice through out the film was, there was not any swearing in it and, if there was I certainly did not hear it. Jason Statham was the man for that part. The reason I bought the dvd was because I think Jason Statham is an excellent actor and I dont think he has made a bad film yet.

a1 tidygood delivery , a1 weel happy !!Having converted most of my old dvd collection to blue ray I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" the bank job !! lol

This has to be one of the most unreasonable ebayers out there, made a mistake and won 2 the bank jobs. I let the seller know what happened asap so it could give the bidder under a second chance offer but no.............. Agreed to pay and have sent a cheque which it clams never came! Well hope it was worth ruining your feedback over £2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
