Album Notes This is a Hyper CD, which contains regular audio tracks and also provides a link to the artist's website with the help of a web browser.AC/DC: Brian Johnson (vocals); Angus Young, Malcolm Young (guitar); Cliff Williams (bass); Phil Rudd (drums). Recorded in April and May 1980. Originally released on Atlantic (16018). Includes liner notes by David Fricke. After the untimely death of former enigmatic vocalist Bon Scott, AC/DC finally chanced upon a worthy replacement in the shape of former Geordie frontman, Brian Johnson. The result was more than the formal pastiche some expected, with Johnson stamping his own personality, not to mention distinctive rasp, on the record. The band's staple lyrical diet of sex and the general pursuit of happiness, however, remained very much intact. Highlights include the stomping 'Hell's Bells', the quiet build of the title track, and the chuckling insolence of, 'Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution'. A winning return. Reviews Review created: 15/06/08 by: This is an album that every music fan - irrespective of normal genres/tastes has to own. Riffs and groove are still incredibly infectiously and fresh almost 30 years on. The remastered format adds to the sense of time-warp! Incredible sense of pace and restraint - tracks run just behind the beat at around 110BPM just to show that it can be done! Stand out tracks are -of course - Hells Bells and Back in Black. Would be easy to dismiss AC/DC - except you can't, their influence is all pervasive. If you're going to own just one AC/DC album, this is it. Essential car CD album... just wait for the speeding tickets to arrive though!!! Review ID: 10000000007600176 Was this review helpful? Report this review I heard a track from this album on the radio recently, I realised it's a classic and I needed it in my CD collection. I looked in a record shop and because it's an old title there are no offers available on it so I thought I'd look on ebay. I saved around £4 by buying it on ebay....It hasn't been out of my car since! Review ID: 10000000006083724 Was this review helpful? It has been around since the dawn of time and rightly so. Riffs a plenty. The songs will be remembered forever as they seem timeless. If you have not got it, get it, get it now. Good tunes to try and learn the guitar too. Review ID: 10000000002287036 Was this review helpful? Report this review Review created: 06/08/06 by: 1 of 1 people found this review helpful. Raunchy, hard hitting rock - great tracks - skillful musicians: everything that music today lacks comes together in such classic albums. Takes me back to when one did not have to be drunk or drugged to enjoy chart music, and the bands had something new to offer. Unpretentious "have a good time" music that makes your feet stomp and yeah - your air guitar twitch! Review ID: 10000000001517041 Was this review helpful? Report this review |
