Album Notes This is a Hyper CD, which contains regular audio tracks and also provides a link to the artist's website with the help of a web browser.AC/DC: Brian Johnson (vocals); Angus Young, Malcolm Young (guitar); Cliff Williams (bass); Phil Rudd (drums). Recorded in April and May 1980. Originally released on Atlantic (16018). Includes liner notes by David Fricke. After the untimely death of former enigmatic vocalist Bon Scott, AC/DC finally chanced upon a worthy replacement in the shape of former Geordie frontman, Brian Johnson. The result was more than the formal pastiche some expected, with Johnson stamping his own personality, not to mention distinctive rasp, on the record. The band's staple lyrical diet of sex and the general pursuit of happiness, however, remained very much intact. Highlights include the stomping 'Hell's Bells', the quiet build of the title track, and the chuckling insolence of, 'Rock And Roll Ain't Noise Pollution'. A winning return. ON PLAYING IT I THOUGH I DISCOVERED WHAT A GREAT ROCK ALBUM IT IS & AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF SOMETHING WHICH IS GREATER THAN THE SUM OF PARTS. A GREAT BUNCH OF SONG THAT GEL BRILLIANTLY AS AN ALBUM. FANTASTIC! Review ID: 10000000007460730 Was this review helpful? Report this review That rarest of things...an album without a single bad track, every one a power riffing classic. AC/DC finished without Bon Scott? not likely, Brian Johnson's voice, the Young's guitars and Mutt Langes production gave them a fuller sound and new lease of life to become one of the biggest (and definitely loudest!) rock acts in the world.... If you only ever buy one AC/DC album, make it this one, put it in your car cd player, turn it up as loud as you can bear it and go for a long drive.....to rock & roll heaven... :-} Review ID: 10000000005612006 Was this review helpful? Brian Johnson had a bit of a way to go to match the legendary Bon Scott, but the vocal range on this cd shows that he can. Top class songs, the title track and the brilliant you shock me all night long prove what a class cd this is. Review ID: 10000000003282651 Was this review helpful? Report this review |
