Great Scott! 1.21 jigawatts of entertainment

Fresh-faced Michael J. Fox as alliterated time-travelling skateboarding meddler Marty McFly, crazy-haired bumbling ranter Christopher Lloyd in one of his most memorable roles as the eccentric genius professor and the swan-song of the ill-fated Delorean (complete with 'flux-capacitor', oh yes) offer 4 hours of top-notch entertainment, even today, 20 years after its original Uk release.

IMDB does a very good job of summarising the plot, which goes a bit like this:

Part 1: Eccentric Doc Brown invents time travel; young Marty McFly goes back in time, stops his parents from meeting; they must, or he won't be born.

Part 2: After visiting 2015, Marty must repeat his visit to 1955 to prevent disastrous changes to 1985... without interfering with his first trip.

Part 3: Marty travels to 1885 to keep Doc Brown from being murdered.

There's an awful lot of nonsense about messing around with time and trying not to meet your parents before you were born and hence stop yourself existing etc... but mroe importantly this movie is so much fun and so universally accessible it deserves to begiven some kind of World Heritage award.

On a superficial level it brings up some good questions about how travelling to the past would affect the present (not as profound as so many other films, the underrated Millennium (Michael Anderson, 1989) is a terrible film but a terrific story) but in the end its about 80 kitsch, flying skateboards and hugely entertaining portayals of different periods of America's history. Not to mention a classic soundtrack, especially on the first film.

Buy it!

Watch it!

And as Dr Emmett Brown would say: "By my calculations, when that baby hits 88 miles an hour, you're going to see some serious s**t."

I bought it coz i'd never seen the whole series before, saw it going on ebay and thought it was about time as i'm nearly 26 and was really pleased with the product. Haven't really had any major problems with the product.

I felt so disappointed when I received Back to the Future: The Complete Trilogy (DVD 2002) . The 3 DVDs were each in a plastic wallet but not in a DVD CASE!!! Then all 3 of them tucked in a blank folded A4 white paper. For what reasons there was no DVD case provided? Is that the way they dispatch all DVDs!! Not a note to explain this. Nothing!!Will not buy from them again!!! Wondered if they were not well-made copies because the films are impeccable!!

  Another great trillogy
Review created: 15/01/09

I recently saw the first movie on TV and thought it was pretty good, then realising the movie was older than me I thought it was even better so bought the box set so I can watch them all on a rainy day.

reccomended to anyone these movies are suited for all ages but you have to remember it was filmed in the 80s so the special effects are about as advanced as star wars but they make up for that with a decent story line and acting.

First film was a classic. Funny, original and a top notch performance by Marty's Dad. the other two are average at best.

Those are 3 of my best films of all times, i really dont have a best out of the 3 of them as i gre up with those movies and every time i pop one in the dvd player it takes me back to my youth and brings back alot of fond memories, i think a good test for any movie or album etc is when it can be played today and still be as good as when it first came out and that is the case with back to the future super wrote, and with the special effects wouldnt look out of place today! kids still love those today and thats just what makes those movies so special!

I loved the films as a child and was so happy when they came out on DVD, this set is a must have for any DVD owner. there is something in the movies for everyone, bits of love, bits of fighting, bits of gadgets, etc. you can find everything in these movies, even though they are old and the views are old i always find they make me smile whenever i watch them. I would recommend these to anyone and for the price there is no reason not to get them.
