This was the last of the seasons I purchased, and it was well worth the wait, the sad loss of the old captain and the beginning of the new captain onboard B5 creates quite a tension.. but with his insistance on eating Oranges and good humour Captain Sheridan's character is developed into a first rate leader in the following seasons.. An incredible show, a real must see, gripping, fullfilling and emotive. It seemed to chime with the polical times in the 1990's and now even more so. a war-on-terror and orwellian removal of the media is faithfully predicted and dealt with in this gripping sci-fi adventure. I was a massive star trek fan.. until I discovered Babylon 5.

The second (award winning) series of what i consider to be one of the best sci fi shows ever made.
A brilliantly written, acted and directed series filled with everything you could want in a tv program. It contains well developed characters with interesting personalities and motivations for their actions as well as their own personnal demons (a welcome change from the generally bland star trek characters). Action and drama are mixed in with moments of romance tragedy and comedy. The special effects have aged well for a show which is nearing its 10th anniversary, and has some of the best space battles you are likely to see on a television program.
This series builds well on the events of the first, with the changing leadership on earth following the assasination of the president, increasing tensions between the Narn and the Centauri and continued revelations about the deadly race known only as Shadows. It is this on going thread which binds the whole show together and truly makes the series stand out from other shows. Also avoids the lure of excessive techno babble which is an easy trap to fall into when making sci fi.
A must for anyone who enoys well made television not just the sci fi fans. And fort those who have seen, and enjoyed deep space 9 - you need to watch this!

It's pretty damn good. Unlike many science fiction space odysey series this one has a continuing storyline running through the whole thing with well rounded characters and no concept of up and down (they are in space). It's a good watch.

  Babylon 5 season 2

There are many sci-fi shows that are available on DVD some are nostalgic like the original Battlestar Galactica of the 1970's; others humourous like Red Dwarf as the saying goes "Smeg for Brains" and there are a few Sci-fi stories are great: the new Battlestar Galactica, ST Voyager, Space Above and Beyond, Doctor Who (David Tennant)and of course Babylon 5. Why, because all of the story line that are mentioned in my "great" catagory benefit from good writers who care about the characters they create and understand how they would react under difficult circumstances. Great attention is paid to the little details.

In Babylon 5 a saga told over 5 seasons. In it we follow the lives of the characters in the story plots and see some of them rise above adversity and others crumble under the weight. The story is the struggle between apparant good (the earth forces, the Mimbari and so forth), and apparant evil with the Shadows. A bitter war is led up to fought and the aftermath coped with, and along the way plots and subplots take the viewer through twists and turns with subterfuge and lies.

The story is well worth the watching and something to be kept. I will be looking out for more of the DVD's as they become availible to compleate my collection.

  Babylon 5 season 2

This has become a marmite show. You either love it or you hate it. With it's dated looking effects and walk the line acting in places. This could easily be bargin bin stuff but i have fond memories of it and does take me back.

  Babylon 5 - Series 2 (DVD 2003),

As someone who loved the series, and waits for the re-runs it is not surprising to find me buying this item.

This particular edition is a simple box set of all the programes, on DVD, in thin cases, presented in a box.
You can purchase other sets with the same programes and a few more "extras",in the normal DVD cases, but at a price of course, so these sets are good value, take up less space on the shelf, and being on DVD allow you to go straight to the bits you want to see, and re-run them when you want, without adverts!

This series was the first one on TV to use computers to make the special effects, and while dated when looked at with the latest films, are still very good, and realistic.
The people in the series are all belivable, as unlike some Sci-Fi adventures, they all have faults, make mistakes, and go through bad, and good times - just like me!
Even the aliens are intresting, and their concerns over us humans are normally mis-understandings and often comical.
The story line of the series is individual for each programme, but they are all linked, and another bigger story unfolds as you follow the series to the end. Which again makes things very realistic.

So this was brought as an addition to what I hope will be a complete collection, of a ground breaking series, and one which I personnally will watch again and again, and has enough intrest to make my wife watch - and she does not like Sci-Fi - so it must be good!
