Album Notes Personnel includes: BT, DJ Rap, M. Doughty, Rasco, Fifty Grand, Peanut Butter Wolf.On MOVEMENT IN STILL LIFE, producer/programmer/mastermind BT presents the accessible face of electronica. Like DJ Rap or Prodigy, he merges electronics with pop and comes up with an eclectic, radio-friendly album that should do more to advance the genre's cause than ten Warp label compilations. Amid skittering techno breakbeats, modified house rhythms, semi-ambient sweeps, and canny sampling, BT deploys catchy choruses, rapping, and some rock-flavored arrangements. Soft female vocals float soothingly above the ethereal "Dreaming," and a couple of the cuts here could pass for tech-savvy alt-rock, with guitars and vocals aplenty. Hardcore techno fans may dismiss STILL LIFE for pandering to the masses, but those masses will find BT's album a useful entry into the world of electronic pop.
Editorial Reviews ...We've been banging on about it for ages and finally this breaktrance wonder gets a re-release with a CD of remixes... Mixmag (06/01/2000)
...Romps in as many musical playgrounds as he can....BT may be more compiler than visionary, but compilations rarely sound this engaging. - Rating: A- Entertainment Weekly (07/07/2000)
...An eclectic, and entertaining musical statement from an evolving artist obviously not satisfied by simply retracing paths already worn. CMJ (06/12/2000)
