Avril Lavigne - The Best Damn Thing (CD 2007)

I really enjoyed this CD. I love Avril, when she takes it slow on "When You're Gone". She has a lot of party tracks, but she should've also featured a slower side. You will love this to get your party started!

ok, so why so low you ask?
well i do love avril and on the other two albums shes talking about experience shes felt growing up, but many of the songs on this new album sound the same, she is married to the guy from sum 41, so her boyfirend hasnt dumped her. I cant help buy feel alot of the songs are a tad more heartless and less personal than they used to be, aimed purley at new fans. Her video to girlfriend is just shots of a camera running up her legs and i cant help but think shes lowered the age range shes appealing too, this is also shown in her lyrics.

This is a great up tempo album. whats with the bad reviews? so what if its a little immature, the whole point of music is to have fun while listening to it and not to take it so seriously.

7. Hot - uptempo song and i love it! (...)

8. Innocence - the same as what i think of track 5 , when youre gone.

9. I Don't Have To Try - another up-beat song. this is brill! (...)

10. One Of Those Girls - up-beat again! fun song to dance to! (...)

11. Contagious - this is a personal fave! (...)

12. Keep Holding On - this is a good ballad love it! (...)

This is an album to dance to and to have fun, buy it if you like to listen to fell good and up tempo songs!

Avril's sound has changed quite dramatically from her second album, "Under My Skin"'s dark lyrics and heavy guitars. "The Best Damn Thing" is a great summer album, clap-happy and cheeky. The guitar riffs showing Avril's rock roots still remain, but with a pop catchiness that is undeniably contagious. This is my favourite album really!

Girlfriend; The number one debut track is bratty, addictive, and just plain fun, you'll find yourself singing the chorus constantly, definitley a highlight from the album. The video is hilarious also!

I Can Do Better; This rebellious song is my least favourite on the album, but it's still good. It seems to be a wannabe 'Girlfriend', but with the opposite theme going on.

Runaway; 'Runaway' is a fight-the-world-with-a-smile song. You'll bound to find similarites to Avril in this song, as she sings about losing phone signal, being late. One of the slower non-ballads on the album, it bears similarities to Alanis Morissette's 'Ironic'.

The Best Damn Thing; A call-out-call-back beginning, a name chant, lyrics about PMS and cheapskate guys, this is a very cheerleader-esque song while still having that youthful rebellion from the norm Avril has.

When You're Gone; The second single, and a personal favourite, 'When You're Gone' is a great song. A real tear-jerker, you can really hear the emotion in Avril's voice. Beautiful.

Everything Back But You; A real contrast from 'When You're Gone', 'Everything Back But You' is like a huge rant about an ex-boyfriend, classic Avril. One of the fastest songs on the album, the guitar riffs in this song are great!

Hot; A song more about desire than love, but still has Avril's rock-chick touch on it. Her vocals in the bridge are excellent.

Innocence; This song is gorgeous, Avril's voice shines against almost nothing but a piano.

I Don't Have To Try; Avril's exclaiming of "I wear the pants!" is hilarious! A fast song with a real rock edge to it. The guitar is reminiscent of 'In Too Deep' and 'Fat Lip' by Avril's very own Mr. Lavigne, Deryck Whibley.

One Of Those Girls; More rock and a brilliant chorus, this song is excellent.

Contagious; Like 'One Of Those Girls', 'Contagious' really is...contagious! You'll be singing this one a lot too! It's similar to 'Hot' lyric-wise. If only it was longer...

Keep Holding On; A gem, a real gem, truly a highlight from the album, my favourite song from the album. A beautiful ballad without being so slow it's boring. It's also from the soundtrack to 'Eragon'. Just remember, when things don't seem to get any better...keep holding on. :)

In conclusion, buy this album! It's great, and it's hard to find words to describe how great it is seriously, so just listen, dance, and smile to it!

If you want taster tracks, I recommend 'Girlfriend', 'When You're Gone', 'Hot', 'Keep Holding On' and 'Everything Back But You'...but they're all great it's hard to choose.

So...buy the album already!

I absolutely love Avril Lavigne and i already have all he albumz but i wanted 2 ov each one just incase [= (: she iz amazin singer and i can relate to her muzic. I know he muzic and style iznt for eeryone but it defnately iz for me and i will alwayz support her and be her number 1 fan..!

I LOVE AVRIL

I personally loved the first two albums from Avril. There wasnt a song on either album that I didnt like. They were the kind of albums that you could play through without having to skip a single track.

This third album is not. Avril has altered her music style in this latest CD, and in my opinion, not for the better.

The music is not bad. The album boasts a handful of decent tracks, but also a handful of duds. Disapointing considering the quality of the first two.

Some people will no doubt like this new Avril, and indeed like this album when the may have not liked the first two. So it can be said that Avril will lose some fans gained from her earlier music.

It is common knowledge that Avril has gained a lot of critisism for this latest instalment.

If you are looking into purchasing this album, I would recomend that you listen to samples of the tracks before making your purchase.

Avril is back! Gone is her gothic,dark era,and now is the cheeky,optimistic,lovesick ,teenage songs!!

I am a true avril fan,and when i heard that her new album was to come out I rushed down to my local shop and bought her album.

It is truely a great bubblegum rock album, with great tracks on it, but it is just missing true originality.take gwen stefani's album 'love.angel.music.baby ( i love her as well :D) it was so original and creative that it even had it own brand! why cant every album be like that.

OVERALL- 9/10: one of the best teenage bubblegum rock albums at the moment. I definately would recomend buying this,especially if you an avril fan.

This new album is very 'oh mickey', pop/punk, girly girl, ditzy!!

And of course as your listening to 'girlfriend', the only thing your missing is your set of cheerleading pom poms!!

And its pretty much the same for at least 4 other songs on the album!! And when your driving along in the car (Your ok if you drive an automatic!!) its very difficult to cheer with imaginary pom poms, steer and change gear!!

But it amuses people at the traffic lights!

I liked the whole album. Until i had to do 3 extra copies for my kids.

And its the only album i get to hear now.

Loudly from their bedrooms all the time. And no, they don't seem to realize that they could all sit in the 1 same room and listen to it together!! That would be too easy.
And we go out in the car and i have to put it on again.

All the bloody time. So it 'WAS' The best damn thing. But now its just that DAMN album and annoying!!!

But its definitely more pop princess, than punk princess.

And it seriously requires pom poms. Its just one of those albums that you feel the urge to go RA RA RA to.

Thats the only way i can think to describe it! Its absolutely nothing like her other 2 albums. Nothing like at all.

I did like this cd when i first heard it but a few parts of music i was unsure off but after a couple of plays i loved it!

the best song has to be innocence great lyrics and really good locals. def a good buy!

I was a really big fan of her last album, so it felt like forever since the last one, but after 3 years, Avril truly has excelled herself! The album shows how Avril was given creative precedence, adding phrases like 'Limoncello' (her favourite alcoholic drink) to 'I Can Do Better'. My favourite tracks have got to be 'The Best Damn Thing', 'When You're Gone' and 'Innocence'...If you haven't got this album already, shame on you!!!

A good third album from Avril, although not as rock orientated as her previous attempts, nor as lyrically angry. Ignore the irritating 'Girlfriend' and listen to the rest of the album.

this is because the CD is relevant to what i enjoy listnening to and it will add to my collection of avril lavigne's CD set. it attracted my attention with the bold contrasting colours of pink and black on the front cover. The cover makes it seem its also from a punk/rock 'scene' of music - which i like.

Fabulous album with a mix of upbeat tracks and ballads. Favourite track has to be 'Innocence', with 'When You're Gone' a close second. 'Girlfriend' is a catchy tune, too.

My orginal was lost and i was over joyed that i could replace it so cheaply especially as the cd was in excellent condition. I collect different artists albums. i believe this is one of Avril lavgine best albums, it is more mature then her other work. It is great to listen to at parties, getting ready to go out or even if you just want to listen to some feel good music.

After a brilliant first album and a far less than brilliant second album I wasn't sure what to expect. However, this album is very, very good. I can fully understand why some people may hate it and Avril in general, but for me if you just suspend your cooler than thou personas I think you'll find there's a huge slice of very likable pop music here.

This is a great album! Also her most recent. Most of avrils best songs are included such as: keep holding on, girlfriend and the best damn thing. Its great for young punk/rockers or anyoneone at all who loves her songs.

Wonderful collection of fun tracks from the legendary Avril Lavine... In my opinion even better then previous albums, much more fun and catchy tunes!

i think this is a great album, with a different sound to her others. I love all the songs and think there will be more hit off of it. I would definatly recommend this album as the bet from her. Theres songs for every mood; so yeh...i think its wickid!
