The Aviator (DVD)

Well I expected this to be a schmaltzy romcom type vehicle for ole Crappio but..I'm pleased to say it was an excellent Biopic of Howard Hughes and his relationships with women, planes, his mother,money and the Yanks in government at the time. Great story and a strong masculine piece of acting from Leonardo de Caprio..Great seamless effects and the flight of the biggest plane ever built (and finally the telling of the squalid U.S. Government procurement "unfairness" that painted Hughes - unfairly it seems - in such a bad light) Fair play, I'll watch it again.

I like Leonardo Di Caprio as an actor, and many of the films he stars in are very good. However, I wasn't that impressed by this film. (Not that he wrote it e.t.c) Don't get me wrong - it is 'watchable', and most definitely better than spending a couple of hours watching soaps and the like! Howard Hughes was an interesting character alright, and its worth watching just to learn a bit about him. I just thought I'd give my particular opinion on it, as I personally find these reviews helpful.

THIS REALLY IS A GREAT MOVIE. VERY CLOSE TO THE TRUTH WITHOUT BEING BORING.WELL PACED DIRECTION AND WELL PAINTED CHARACTERS. WELL WORTH BUYING AND WATCHING AGAIN ON THOSE LONG WINTERS NIGHTS. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME I HAVE BOUGHT THIS FILM AS IT MAKES A GOOD ALROUND PRESENT. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED VIEWING

I found this dvd very intresting, though it did seem to go on for a long time
acting and production was first class and would recommend this dvd to anyone whom may ask about it

Good film but found it a bit too long. Leonardo Di Caprio is excellent in it as are all the supporting cast.

we decided to buy it because we cant' get to the cinema much these days and when we received the dvd it was in excellent condition and we really enjoyed seeing it.

The Aviator is one of the best films I have ever seen. It depicts the life of Howard Hughes in perfect detail and Leonardo DiCaprio really puts himself in the role and the choreography is just outstanding.

Good all round film...Colourful, true life interesting drama...Well acted & a pleasant change from the gun & car movies out there...I recommend this dvd to couples & families with older children...Great

From an aviation point of view, this movie is of interest. Personally I am not a big fan of lots of computerised generated graphics to try and physiologically set the scene of some scenes were just plain bizarre, and for me detracted from the movie.
On the whole it was quite a good movie that was supported by some very good actors, but then you would frankly expect that from this class of actor.
For me the movie just didn’t excite me enough to watch it over again, I think mainly because it had been so artificially tampered with, it just looks so Holywood…. if you know what I mean.

A strange film, through which I kept asking myself, "should I switch it off?".

Having battled through the film then just abruptly stops. I then found myself thinking, "that's it?. For that I battled through?".

OK if you are a fan of the main actors, I guess. Otherwise not a movie I can recommend to anyone.

Saw the film last year and loved it. Now live in Sweden and wanted a copy to see again. Although I am not a fan of Leanardo DiCaprio I felt his performance was excellent and portrayed the character of Howard Hughes in a subtle and sympathetic manner.
