loved it kidman and jackman have great chemistry. out of africa meets the thornbirds epic film with excellent support from support cast . visually exciting and great sound track.

This is a great film. Hugh Jackman is just the best, and hunky aswell!! The film is quite long, but action packed. A very enjoyable film. I bought it having seen it at the cinema wanted to see it again.

Fantastic film. Great Value. A must for those who love the outdoors. Classic love story. Very well acted.

A breathtakingly vivid account, seen through the eyes of a young aborigine, well-told, well-acted and entertaining. The disc arrived promptly and in first-class condition. A good film, thoughtfully delivered, at a bargain price.

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.

A somewhat ponderous, long (about 2 and 1/4 hrs) tale of an Englishwoman (Kidman) going to save her late husband's cattle estate in the Northern Territories, and the events that follow - both historical (ie outbreak of WW2) and personal - eg meeting Hugh Jackmans' character - leading to a sad climax but ultimately a morally correct one.
SPlit roughly into 3 parts - Crocodile Dundee style at the start, almost Gosford Park in the middle and 'Pearl Harbor' at the end, it is good acting and a belated recognition of the (bad) treatment of Aborigines by the Aussies that keeps the viewer staying with the story. Whilst not Gone With the Wind, it is a good an australian film as Mad Max in its own special way.
