Augustus Pablo - Rockers Beat Street (CD 1999)

Horace Swaby would turn in his grave if he heard this ramshackle collection of reject versions of some of his greatest tunes.

The Pablo magic is missing here almost sucked out by awful mixing which is just amateur.

But all is not lost as there are simply incredible Augustus Pablo LP/CDs available and by reading this review you will find them in order of excellence they are:-

King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown get the Vinyl on Yard Label if you can if not the Sanachie CD is OK.

Dubbing with the Don CD is sheer raw Pablo Power that will mash up your speakers, confuse your kids who thing Dubstep is Cool and alienate your wife what more could you ask from music.

Jacob Miller who say jah no dread CD is good

Pablo King Davids Melody (You need the Orig Message Vinyl but the CD is OK)

Pablo East of the River Nile CD is ok.

Hugh Mundell Africa Must be Free (all the re presses are OK on Greensleeves).

Pablo Original Rockers (On Rockers label is best)

Pablo Rockers meets King Tubby In A Firehouse the CD is fine.

There are of course many more like Ital Dub and Aquarius Dub but they are formative in terms of the Pablo Adventure.
