Quite simply Classic Gold ! An utterly fantastic follow up to Life on Mars unique in the very fact that its even better !! Gene Hunt has got to be one of the very best iconic characters that has arisen from recent day TV. Hysterically funny, gritty and strangly attractive ! Bloody Brilliant !!

Have recently purchased both series of life on mars. Brilliant to say the least. So bought this one. And everybit as enjoyable. Cracking one liners, Loads of laughs. Phil Glenister is brilliant, so are the rest of the cast. Go buy yourself a set. Sit back and enjoy. Worth every penny.

A superb sequel to Life on Mars, gripping storylines and the antics of the 'gene genie' are hiarious. If you missed it on TV - it is worth the money to watch it...brilliant

Watched Life on Mars so had to see this follow up.
Certainly atmospheric of the 80s but without the stark reality of 'Mars'

Being without the tremendous John Sim who starred in the first series certainly doesn't help

Awesome!!! Great series so enjoyable and so funny I have to keep watching it over to see the bits I've missed from laughing too much!!! If you were a teenager in the 80's this is a must see.Big up to the Gene Genie!!!

I love these programmes, prefered Life on Mars at first but slowly getting really into Ashes to Ashes, GENE HUNT LEGEND!!! love the phrases, dress sense BRILLIANT!!!

I watched series 2 first,and within a very short time become Addicted to it.DCI Gene Hunt,was fantastic,he plyed his role perfect,and the one liners [a little not PC were a joy to here.] Hunt held the series together,without a doubt,but his whole team were very good and deserved much credit,each episode was a thrill to watch[part of the story of time traveller was on times a little overdone but even so did not distract from a most enjoyable show.
I bought Series 1 with high expectations I can say i was not dissapointed.

i watched life on mars and did not mind it but when ashes to ashes come on the 80s is my fav time with with music so when series 1 finshed i had to buy it and i cant wait for series 2

What can i say more great one liners from DCI Gene hunt. If you like life on mars then ashes to ashes is for you. More back in time action which makes you say "o i had one of those".

I didn't think I would like this series as I was a MAJOR fan of Life on Mars and I didn't think Ashes to Ashes could be anywhere close to that, so hence why I never watched 'Ashes' on television. Why I bought the DVD I'm not really sure, but I'm very glad I did!

For anyone who lived their early, hair-gelled fuelled lives through the 80's, it's a real trip down memory lane. The producers have tried really hard to make sure that as many iconic 80's props are in there for everyone to see. As well as the obvious "Quattro" moments, you are forever catching yourself saying "I used to have one of those" and “do you remember those” etc.
Of course the music is excellent and "oh, do you remember this one" slips out regularly. It was quite fun racing to place the artist and title before anyone else!

Anyway, about the programme! The format is the same as Life on Mars, an injured cop who travels back in time and feels the only way to make it back is to fulfil their role by catching bad guys - whoever thought that one up must have been on drugs - but it really does capture your attention.

From time to time the acting is rather tongue in cheek, BUT ironically this just seems to make the episodes more enjoyable somehow(?).
It's a peculiar mixture of nostalgia; beat the intro, comedy, Benny Hill type sexism and the occasional moments of tenderness.

Can't wait to watch back-to-back episodes of series II!

The item was delivered quiclky , had a great value , still sealed excellent condition , big fan of the series , enjoyed , waiting for the next series now.

I would send a review if I had ever received the above item but I am still awaiting delivery weeks later!!!!

really wanted this box set for my partner. totally devestated that it hasnt appeared. not happy that theyve left ebay,really not good. Ebay brilliant otherwise,but loosers like this shouldnt be allowed!!!!

I loved the first series, Life on Mars, so this was a natural progression.
I hated the first episode, where was Sam? It just wasn't the same without him. Plus the location had changed from London to Manchester.
However, the second episode was a little better and by the third I was hooked!
DI Hunt is as 'ist' as the first series, with lots of sarcastic one liners that he is so good at.
I ended up loving it!
Can't wait for the next series which should be on the TV by the Spring so I understand.
Give it a watch, escape back into the 80's and laugh at all the comments that today are so politically incorrect.

The sequel of the BBC series 'Life On Mars' is as good as it can be.
If you liked 'Life On Mars' run to follow the new adventures of the team.

Ithought life on mars was totally brilliant and when i first watched this on t,it was a very worthy sequel and cannot wait to to watch it all over again.

John Simms mooves over for this series to continue and Keeley Hawes takes over as a sexy DI from 2008 so here we go again with a new twist on old Policing Sweeney style with an Audi Quattro to rag about the streets in 1981.Brilliant
