  Great Piece of Technology

The iPhone is a great piece of technology with one of the easiest and practical User Interface's I have seen and used, the only other to be be close is the Mac OS X operating system, with the window scrolling and touch screen I think the iPhone is even better and easier to use.

I'm sure people will like it even more once some new app's start to appear and they get the hang of using the little hidden features in the GUI.
If your into technology this is one device you'll appreciate and get a lot of use out of.
This phone truly sets out the future generation, for mobile devices!

I mean just look at it isn't it beautiful!
The moment I saw apple iphone I fell in love !

It would have been good if they had a 16GB like the iPod touch but what more can you ask for in this package ?
It's just the best ! It's like having a mini Mac in your hand !

And it's the best phone I have owned ! and i have have had a few. !

It's an Excellent Piece of Technology !!!

Should you really get an iPhone?

Well... should you?

Basically, the iPhone is great. Be warned though that the internet can be slower than you might have been led to believe. If you have Wi-Fi you will have no probs really but the vast majority of people won't have that access at work, on the train, in the city etc... so it will either go to EDGE which is slower, or GPRS slower still. Also; if the phone is roaming for Wi-Fi all the time the battery will drain well within a day - you can turn off the Wi-Fi search easily though. Some functions like You Tube will only operate in Wi-Fi or EDGE (although it's not worth watching on EDGE as it's too slow to stream)

As for e-mail - It uses a pull system where by the max frequency is every 15 mins. I think that this is more than adequate personally. Anyone who tells you that the keyboard is hard to use either only tried it once, has no dexterity or very fat fingers! After a few texts and e-mails it becomes as natural as breathing. Thumbs up for that!

Generally speaking the functionality is fantastic - the iPod, the pics, the calender, maps etc all good. The camera isn't great but for basic pics of nights out / pets and so on it's more than adequate.

The build quality is good too - although I live in constant fear of scratching the screen (screen protectors are available). It is not a robust phone and the fact that you can't swap the sim to a less valuable phone to do 'outdoory' things is annoying.

It has a good signal strength in low signal areas and, when not constantly looking for Wi-Fi, has a reasonable stand-by battery time. It is also really easy to get started and link to a PC - if I can manage it anyone can!

Overall - the phone is awesome. Is it worth £260 + £35 / month for 18 months? Well possibly not. I can see the price dropping considerably within 6 months as the competition from other mobile manufacturers builds up.

A warning - ONLY BUY THESE FROM O2, APPLE OR CARPHONE WHEREHOUSE! If you get them from anywhere else you are throwing you money away 'cos it won't work in the UK.

My advice to anyone who doesn't have money to throw away is just hang fire and wait for three to six months to see what the price does. If you are a gadget freak then just get it because it will entertain you for weeks.

I hope this has helped you make your mind up - I am glad I got it but feel guilty for what is a considerable splash of cash!

Have fun deciding!

It's very expensive, however, I found www.freeiphoneforme.co.uk and got one for free!

As you probably know, it's an expensive item for what it is... But, I didn't exactly pay for mine because I found a totally legal way of getting gifts like this for free!

Visit: www.freeiphoneforme.co.uk

I'm still receiving gifts like this, simply by completing just one offer like the LOVEFILM free trial. There are many other offers that you can also complete. I personally think that the Coral Bookmakers offer is the best to choose as it is quick and fun!

There are many other gifts on this site aswell, not just this product, you can get any consoles, HDTVs, iPods, iPhones, you name it, you can probably get it. You can even get cheques or Bank Transfers!
Take a look as I found it very helpful:

This is a great product! But it can be expensive! I'm glad I found www.ultimate-free-gifts.co.uk where I got mine for free :)

There are many alternative offers you can complete such as the 14 day FREE trial with the DVD company LOVEFiLM. Just simply try LOVEFiLM's no obligation trial.

After completing my offer I received my gift within a week :)

Visit: www.ultimate-free-gifts.co.uk

Before you think about putting your hands into your pocket for this expensive product.

There are many other gifts on this site as well, not just this product, you can get the latest console, Plasma TV's, iPods, iPhones, you name it, you can probably get it. You can even get cheques or Bank Transfers!

I hope you enjoy the extra £££'s saved in your bank account from using ultimate-free-gifts.co.uk :)

iphone is now one of the most wanted phone;apple is the guaranty of quality,of course you will pay extra because of this;very durable phone, very compact
i like iphone because its big screen, scratch proof screen, very durable, easy connection to internet-the best phone made for internet, superior in internet connection over the WM devices, also safari si the best browser, and Mac syst does not get viruses to easy, the fact that you can simply restore your default software from itunes, easy to brows between the songs, pictures, the way how you browse inside the phone, the way you see your SMS,the acelerometer, and application based on it,etc
i don't like because of these:
non replaceable battery, poor battery life, not enough to hold a charge at least 3 days, unuseful bluetooth -you cannot communicate with other devices via bluetooth, whose purpose is only for headset;probably the manufacter, Apple, thought that email is enought, for sending files, is it?on the other hand, possibilities with bluetooth are huge, for example if the iphone would have had it,you could have used it with a GPS receiver via bluetooth, and no need to buy the 3G iphone;but the point is,that YOU HAVE TO BUY IT,IT IS ALL ABOUT MONEY
,poor quality sound on external speaker, not to strong,to many missed calls;NOT 3D SOUND,ONLY 1 SPEAKER,poor camera, withouth focusing, withouth image stabilizer, withouth recording, or night mode,or blitz,no video calling, lack of operating system in windows mobile cannot be an advantage,no radio, still locked on AT&T, no matter how you buy it from USA,no MMS, no SMS forwarding,no turning off the predictive words,no memory card, poor internal memory, jusy 8 gb,no DivX,Xvid, suport, no copy and paste, etc
nowdays, there are many phone, superior of iphone;think twice before buying, study the market first, see my guides

Apple iPhone (8 GB) Mobile Phone
Review created: 03/03/08

This is a great phone as it does so much. As it plays music, it means I only have to carry one item instead of two (phone instead of phone and mp3 player). You can use it to find places and to find out how long it takes to get to certain places. It is great for storing photo's including any you may have already stored on your computer. A downside is that it did not come with any games installed but that was easierly fixed.

The only problem is you can not really have it as a pay as you go phone. If you are going to swap sim card and use it that way, you paid a lot of money for a standard phone - all you can do with it is make phone calls, you can not use any of the gadgets on the phone!! I found that out after I got mine and swapped sim cards.

It is a fantastic phone that does so much and gets used a lot more than my old phone.

Nothing near as good as the Nokia N95

I recently got a Nokia N95. Fantastic bit of kit. Brother just got an i phone, and what a piece of garbage!! The gadget show didn;t rate it against the N95. 2 pixel camera? why would you want one?! My phone has a 5 pixel camera (with Carl Zeiss lense I might add!) sat nav, mp3 blah blah. Apple really do come out with some pants! on the up side, I guess it is ok to look at. Don't waste your money. It really is second rate, and certainly nowhere near as good as the N95!

lot's to do to become a decent phone

6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I think who sais this is a great phone is becuase they are blind of Mac or gadget, I love both too but I try to see things in a logical manner. here is why the iphone is not so great (unless you just look for the latest ipod without caring much about other things).

Unless your phone is unlocked these are the downsides of the iphone

- You can not copy contacts from your SIM to the phone
- Bluetooth is only for headsets, not file transfers etc
- you can not delete a single SMS, you would need to delete the whole conversation with a person. You can not delete all messages except one. The SMS are ordered in conversations, not in order of who send them.
- There is not option to disable the SMS/email dictionary (T9)
- Using like ipod, bit of surfing etc battery lasts about 48.
- Alarms won't work if mobile is switched off
- No option to disable EDGE/GPRS, if you are out of Wifi reception (and not in O2 contract) you will pay data packages to your network provider for anything which uses internet
- If you miss a call or receive a SMS and you were not paying attention to the mobile, there is no indication there is something received (not small led color indicating it)
- NO MMS fuction (you can not send/receive MMS (SMS with pictures/videos)
- You can not use/place your own ringtones based in your mp3
- There is not digital zoom for the pictures and/or black and white pictures
- No flash in the camera
- Wallpapers are only for when you switch on or off the mobile, not wallpaper in the background.
- can not open word/pdf/excel/txt documents
- you can not search contacts based in start typing the letters of the name of the person to call.
- You can not use for SMS normal mobile keyboard (ABC-DEF-GHI...) you will be tied to the qwerty touch keyboard and get used to it.
- No standard headphones will work with the iphone, you will need an adapter if you want to use your headphones.
- New ringtones, new Apps will be available only (unless it's unlocked the mobile) through iTunes and therefore you will have to pay for them.
- Sync is based all in itunes.

probably I am forgetting some down sides, the only good thing is that is a great ipod, very nice looking gadget, but in phones still lacking of basic things.

Come on people, think logical and for sure you will realise apple could have done much better job with the iphone. perhaps released it too soon.

anyway..., hope this will be helpful for someone practical rather than someone crazy about gadgets.

Anyone who has ever used one of these phones will tell you that there is nothing to beat it There is no other phone that can compare to it. It is sheer pleasure to use! And the ease and additional apps you can add are wonderful. It's more than a phone! It is T H E gadget. Such a shame that Apple has only allowed O2 to be the service provider in the UK.
Many people have made a lot of money out of cracking the monopoly and unlocking the phone for other networks! We should have to freedom to chose surely?
I look forward to the next generation being sim free and wouldn't hesitate to upgrade to a newer version when this comes available
Get an iPhone! It will change the way you view mobile phones!

  this seller is a scam
Review created: 25/09/08
5 of 8 people found this review helpful.

This seller is a scam, he said this phone is a 3G but it isn't. It is only a 2G old model one. He also said this is a brand new but it has a lot of scratch and dent on it. And this item has a lot of parts missing, such as i) sim card tray holder, ii) the original headset, iii) the instruction manual, iv) the charger cradle. He also said I haven't paid him and want to refund the EBay fee. But I have paid him the cash through him bank account in the Nationwide Bank. The account number is 68279244, sort code is 070030, the card number is 564120011368706500, and the amount total is 397 pounds. The reference number of this transaction is 0532/S123Z 0062 on 8th September 2008. I tried to ring him and tell him there is something wrong and I want to return it to him and get my money back. He looked like that he knows why I ring him and don't let me explain just say there is no refund. But in his advert said ' The seller, vonyhorsted, assumes full responsibility for the content of this listing and the item offered.' How come this cheater said something like this is not his fault?

Getting a free Apple Iphone the easy guide
Review created: 22/10/07(updated 22/10/07)
by:
5 of 19 people found this review helpful.

First of all the apple Iphone is going to be the must have gadget for Christmas 2007

Now you may well have seen adverts on eBay “free Xbox 360 etc etc”
Your first thoughts may well have been “yer ok just another scam”
Well did you notice that there have been hundreds of these adverts and wondered why?

The reason being is you really can get free gadgets such as the Iphone totally free
The concept of getting these free gifts is very simple and once you figure out that you really can get free items using these methods then you will be same as hundreds of other people getting free items every month.

Here’s how it works

First of all you have to sign up to a website which offers the free gift you would like in this instance a free Iphone.

Then you have to complete one of the many offers which that site has to offer.
These range from free trials to bingo sites such as Gala Bingo
They are all accredited companies which are everyday brands you will recognise.

Once you have completed your own offer you need to then acquire the required amount of credits on your account to get your free gift.
At this point you ask friends and family to sign up for you, you can even advertise your referral link on places such as msn or web forums which you may be a member of, remember to ask the forum admin for permission before doing so.

Pit falls of doing these types of sites

• Do not try to scam the company
• Other family members in the same house can not sign up
• Proxy servers are forbidden and will cause deletion of your account
• Dorm rooms will not work since they are on the same server(you can try though)
• NEVER EVER do an offer more than once
• Once you sign up you can not delete it and sign up again
• Only sign in to your account from your computer. Don't let your friend sign in from your PC.
• MOST OF ALL- Just follow the terms and rules, which will lead to your free gift.
Why you will get your free gift

1. The companies that offer these gifts are affiliated with HIGH profile companies such as AOL, EBay, Blockbuster, GM, etc. Companies as big as they are wouldn’t affiliate themselves with scammers; it’ll be bad for business.
2. The companies that offer these free gifts are registered with the BBB (Better Business Bureau). The BBB is a leader in public services related to ethical business practices and dispute resolution. It is there passion to promote honesty and integrity in the marketplace. You can also check their site and search for the company offering the free gifts; see if they “scammed” anyone.

3. The economics of the whole process makes sense. When you sign up for an offer through their partners, they make money. Enough money to offer you a free gift and make profit are affiliated with HIGH profile companies such as AOL, EBay, and Blockbuster.
4.
Well I hope this review helps you gain your free gift brough to you buy myfreeiphone.co.uk

  Not a Great Deal!

I would like to say that please don't but this product as 8GB memory is too low for this phone. It take more time to boot/reboot and specially when are you looking up contact it take extra time to pull out details and really pathetic for speedy dialing settings. This is all because of 8GB memory. Not a great deal. Better if you have running business and long tel directory then just throw it away and get 16 gb atleast or higher up. I dont believe in Iphone or similar products as you are destroying the technology and quality too which integrating multi media in a single unit. Neither of them is perfect. Secondly it will ruin your mobile phone as well. If you are watching video, playing music, games, telephone or camera even you will get low pixels as compare to original purpose built camera and the keyboard will go into wear and tear process soon due to multiple use as you can imagine single unit with multiple functions . I hope everyone will understand this strong point. Better to buy multiple media things separately for a better life of the equipment. Critics welcome.

The long awaited i-phone; I’m not an apple fan, I don’t have a Mac I hate iPods and I despise the package feel you get with a majority of their products. I needed something new that was an upgrade from a Motorola KRAZR and included all the modern technologies that I have been missing out on like, WLAN and good size storage for all your music and films etc. To be honest I was undecided on what I should go for, the market is massive and a little overwhelming when confronted. I had played around with the i-phone before and like most apple products it feels smooth both cosmetically and electronically. The operating system is your typical MAC OSX, fading loaders funky icons and smooth window transitions. The i-phone has a few rivals in the market be it the nokia n95 and now the n96, the Samsung F700 and the LG Viewty, HTC diamond, the p900 series ericssons, plus a lot lot more; and let’s not forget the countless other phones that are riddled with gimmicks and one minute wonder selling points. What swayed me in the direction of the i-phone believe it or not was the price, which is probably a first for apple. Getting this phone unlocked and ready to go from the wondrous eBay for £230 was perfect. Thankfully for me apple’s customers are drawn into the strange ideology that paying out through your nose for a slightly better version of what you already have is a excellent idea? And so now i have an phone that surfs the net quite well when not taking into account all the updates you have to get, the apple store that comes with the updates allows you to download fun little gadgets, and the phones iPod function that is pretty good, and ultimately serves its purpose regrettably better than most anything else that the market of Smartphone’s presents. If you have the money to buy the i-phone outright and you see any of the above phones for the same price I would go for them, except the nokia probably because that is quite plastic feeling and just looks like a normal phone. I must admit you will probably be satisfied with the i-phone if you get it for around 2-300 pounds it’s a good little device the only proper annoying thing that i have found is some of the customisation options are initially limited unless jail broken or hacked and that’s illegal so you’re stuck really, these annoyances are:
• Unchangeable icons or wallpaper
• Can only use preset ringtones and sms tones
• Apple store is pricey for applications you probably will use once and forget
• Crashes sometimes when surfing the net but these are sorted and added depending on updates
• Cannot use the phones storage for standard information through windows e.g. you wanted to put a full DVD quality film on it so you can stream it elsewhere through a computer.
• Have to use iTunes for music transfer and anything else come to think of it
• Sms doesn’t allow you to resend old messages or draft or copy
• Headphones given are a bit rubbish, like usual with apple
• When surfing the net the battery doesn’t last very long
• Your worried about scratching it
• Bluetooth can’t be used for data transfer or stereo headset capability
• Doesn’t support flash player

The good

• Easy UI (user interface)
• Apple support
• Camera quality is good for 2.0 megapixel
• WLAN is quick
• Edge is good
• Gprs is good
• Triangulation function for location is good, who needs gps
• Masses of third party development means always updated programs and

This phone takes a bit of getting used to, but it helped by me owning an Apple ipod, so I had a fair indication of what to expect. There are so many features on this phone that it is certainly worth downloading the instruction manual. The camera takes great pictures and it is nice to listen to music without using earphones. Everything is very clear on screen, although it is rather difficult to view web pages as the print is very small. You obviously can enlarge the screen which helps. I much prefer using the screen pad for dialing phone numbers - it is so much easier than my last 'small' phone and, of course, having all my contacts at my finger tips with emails, addresses etc is great.

All in all, I am very pleased with my phone, and intend to keep it for quite a while.

The way you interface with the iphone is the best thing about it. I've played around with a lot of poor touch-screen phones before and this is the benchmark that will be copied by everyone else, it is that innovative and not just a gimmick!

What I love the most is the way it automatically adjusts to it's environment such as the distance from your head, the lighting conditions and the angle of the iphone - it's just so clever and puts a grin across your face!

It looks great and sounds exceptional at best - the only minors are the telephone calls over the speaker which sounds more like a Sony mobile phone and no flash to take videos (yes, videos! at 30fps with unlimited recording time) or pictures.

Everything else works great on this, even EDGE and wifi will do until 3g comes out...

The thing about the iphone for me, is that it does more than it says on the tin! It lives up to all and more of the expectations you might have of it. Granted the connection speed through GPRS and Edge connections are predictably slow, but link up through a Wifi connection and that concern simply goes away. Astoundingly simple to set up for access to multiple email accounts, bookmarking, contact entry and much more. AND with the latest software update, the 'current location' setting, although not as accurate as most satnav systems, is still remarkably impressive! Especially when you look at it from the view point of this being a phone. As a phone it is fine, although the shape and size do make it a little less 'comfortable' than the standard ergonomics of a phone, and the end call does have a 'should I', 'can I'...errrr!!! sort of feeling about it, the phone functionality including conference calling is superior to anything I've ever used before. The notebook is particularly useful and the qwerty keyboard layout becomes increasingly easy to use with experience. Predictive text (of sorts) is essential with the keyboard being relatively small and prone to miss keying, and I have to say that it works astonishingly well, and it's extremely easy to cancel out suggestions by simply tapping its offering and continuing typing. connection of this facility with emailing is actually easier than emailing directly through that function, especially for longer messages. I have to say that the camera leaves a little to be desired as it is prone to shake, and not particularly high resolution (if you need a high res camera, buy a high res camera). The ipod facility provides all of the functionality you would expect and with 8GB of storage would satisfy any entertainment needs, I currently at the time of writing this have 4 full length movies, and 600 songs, with still plenty of space to spare. My first concern about the touch screen was scratching, i've had mine for about 3 month of 'in pocket' useage....NOT A MARK ON IT, very impressive. Combine all of this with O2's current offer, I originally signed up to the £35 contract with 200mins and 200texts, I have been upgraded at no extra fee to 600/500, a bargain in anyones book. One thing to remember is, if going abroad, switch roaming OFF until you need it, as the billing for data operates differently and could potentially prove to be very expensive. IN SUMMARY, it may be £269 + contract, but what a fantastic piece of kit....of course in time it will be surpassed but apart from upgrades in memory and battery life, it will be some time before anything makes the leap in technology that the iphone represents in the current mobile communications market. Sorry but i work in the mobile phone business and the i-phone is simply pointless why don't you just get a I-pod touch and a new phone for free!! such as a N95e with 8gb hard drive, 5.0 megapixel camera, built in GPS and capable of 3G all of the above the I-phone just doesn't do! mad.

iPhone, Is it worth the buy?

If you want to love the much-hyped Apple iPhone - available in the UK via O2 for £269 right now - you'll find plenty to rave about in our in-depth review of Apple's mobile phone/iPod hybrid. The Apple iPhone's multitouch navigation system is intuitive and fun. The endless expanse of display alone is mesmerising, with beautiful bright colours and crisp resolution.

Apple and O2 have also revealed the UK monthly subscription cost for the iPhone: UK users can choose various tariffs, including £35, £45, £50 and £55 per month. All three plans offer free data traffic, users pay for the device, their calls and messages. And while the UK version follows the original Apple iPhone in not supporting faster, 3G internet, users can at least get free access to a UK network of 7,500 Wi-Fi hotspots from The Cloud. This should vastly improve internet capabilities for those users in urban areas (although it will likely drain the battery).

The Apple iPhone is a great handheld video player, a decent music player and camera; its browser, while not as versatile as the one on your laptop, is still impressive. In the UK the Apple iPhone is available only with an 8GB hard drive.

Plus, the Apple iPhone works just fine as a mobile phone.

But there are disappointments with the Apple iPhone (see also The Apple iPhone's 50 biggest flaws revealed). These include lack of support for the fastest (HSDPA) data network and the absence of instant-messaging and office-suite applications. Others are apparent only once you start using the Apple iPhone - it can get warm with constant use, and you'll need to wipe off smudges frequently with the included cloth.

We're still iffy about the Apple iPhone's software keyboard and predictive text entry. They work reasonably well, but overall text entry is still easier with a hardware keyboard, and the iPhone may not be the best choice for people who need to compose a lot of email.

We were impressed with the Apple iPhone's durability. We tried scratching it and dropping it on everything from carpet to concrete. It survived all the abuse, with only some scratches from the concrete.

And then there are the undeniably fun aspects of the Apple iPhone, from the cute icons on the home screen to the way deleted email swooshes into a trashcan.

An iPhone is expensive and comes with some major drawbacks. It's available in the UK from November 9, but the most prudent course would be to wait for the next version anyway. Hopefully the next generation Apple iPhone will work out some of the kinks, and we hope, be tied to a faster wireless network.
But it's hard to be patient once you've seen one - the future of mobile devices is here and it's called an Apple iPhone.
