When I was deciding which new laptop to get I wanted the best for my money. I had a look at the amazing value PC laptops but none of them really screamed out at me. I was looking for a very fast laptop, with good graphics capability (for video editing and CGI), a great screen and a wide variety of applications.
The PC laptop market seemed to be flooded with cheap computers that did lots of things ok, but did nothing great. I had looked at the Apple laptops for a while but couldn't bring myself to buy one as there just weren't enough applications for it.
That was until they brought out the new MacBook's. I couldn't believe that they could run both windows and Mac OSX. I finally bought one last week and can say that it is amazing. The built in iSight camera is of very high quality and the screen is really sharp. As well as the great looks, performance and ease of use the Mac also outperforms on the 'wow' factor.
Little additions that make you realise how clever it really is. For example: A sensor that switches the keyboard backlight on when it gets dark and switches the keyboard backlight off when it's light. Or the magnetic connection charger that has saved my computer quite a few times. Instead of the end of the charger sloting into you computer, the MacBook's locks into the computer using magnetism meaning if you trip over the power cable while its plugged in the charging cable just disconnects instead of launching your laptop into the air.
The ability to run windows is great, although you need to restart the computer to do so it's still amazing. One thing I found usefull was having a usb stick or external hard drive (quite cheap nowadays) plugged in at all times. Say I needed a Windows application to do something to a picture that on Mac OSX I couldn't do. I could just drop it into the drive and then resart, load up windows and edit the picture, put it back in the drive and boot up Mac OSX again. I would advise putting files you use quite often on a 'shared' drive that way you are never without an important file whether your using Mac OSX or Windows.
I unpgraded my RAM to 2GB as I needed it for increased power when editing video, I would recommend this unpgrade as it speeds the computer up so much.
Overall a great computer that I would recommend to anyone who is thinking about buying a laptop. I hope this review helps you make your decision.
