Editorial Reviews
"...[ANALYZE THIS] has a good, profane edge that's never abrasive..."
Sight and Sound - p.40-1 - Charles Taylor

"...A sharp, darkly hilarious peek at mobster mentality..."
Total Film - p.88 - Dan Jolin

"...A funny title, an even funnier premise and inspired odd-couple casting that's enough to prompt laughter just on the basis of the two-shots in its ad campaign. Think of it as an offer you can't refuse..."

I BOUGHT THIS DVD BECAUSE I HAD PREVIOUSLY VIDEOD IT OFF CABLE AND ON TRYING TO WATCH IT THE PICTURE WAS A COMPLETE SHAMBLES. THIS WAS A GOOD PRICE FOR A 7yr OLD DVD SO I BOUGHT IT. THE SELLER STUCK THE DISC DOWN SO AS NOT TO LET IT JUMP ABOUT AND GET SCRATCHED. AND IT WAS PACKAGED ADEQUATELY. ALSO ARRIVED IN GOOD TIME.
THE FILM ITSELF IS AN EXCELLENT COMEDY, ABOUT A MOBSTER WHO ISN'T REALLY AS HARD AS HE IS REKNOWN TO BE AND AFTER HIS CAR COLLIDES WITH A 'SHRINK' SUBJECTS HIMSELF TO PERSONNAL THERAPY. WHEN HE WANTS IT AND WHERE HE WANTS IT, EVEN IF IT MEANS RUINING THE SHRINKS WEDDING TO THE BEAUTIFUL LISA KUDROW'S CHARACTER. SHE PLAYS A JOURNALIST REPORTING OUTSIDE NEWS ITEMS, AND IS DEVASTATED WHEN SHE FINDS HER GROOM IN A FAMOUS MOBSTERS HOTEL ROOM. THEN ALL COMMOTION LETS LOOSE.....

Extremely funny with Robert De Niro as tough mobster Paul Vitti seeking psychiatric therapy from character Ben Sobel played by Billy Crystal. Strong parallels to Sopranos and the Godfather which is both positive and negative as story line familiar however there is sufficient originality to grip the viewer. Furthermore the use of familiar actors and characters gives viewer immediate insight. The comedy is in the irony of the powerful gangster having panic attacks along with the psychiatrist's own hang ups being revealed. I would highly recommend this film. Rated 15 99mins approx.
