If you like Family Guy then you'll like this. This is very much a light hearted look at the American CIA-in particular one guy Stan Smith-and his family.There's his wife,son & daughter.Then you have two other members of teh house,there's Clause a talking German goldfish who was the result a lab testing experiment that went wrong.Then there's Roger who Stan is hiding as he was taken from Area 51 after he saved Stan's life.
This series will take a while before it get sto the cult status that Family Guy has achieved,but none the less is still worth a laugh.

Really funny . If you like the simpsons and family guy then this is definatly for you . I started watching these episodes when they were broad casting them on BBC3 and found them to be absolutely hilarious with all the funny characters that are featured in this top notch show . It is an absolute must for any cartoon fan as it is pure brilliance !!

If you are really into family guy then you will like American Dad. A lot of people don't like American Dad as much as family guy and that's probably why you can pick a whole season up for about £6 on eBay. But its really funny and for that price its a bargain!

From the creators of Family Guy this box set of Season One includes thirteen spectacular episodes on 3 DVDs. I just loved the series on TV and thought that I could not do without seeing it again and again. Extras include: behind-the-scenes featurette and deleted scene animatics. In general this box set is very good. The flimsy DVD cases and card cover are a bit of a disappointment but that is supplanted by the excellent material on the DVDs. The behind-the-scenes featurette was good and it was very interesting to see the faces of the voices that we grow to love in the series. On the whole a very good purchase and reccomended to anyone who is a fan of sharp, witty humour. Remember cartoons are not just for kids.

never really watched it before caught 5 mins late on bbc2 one evening so bought the boxset first series...watched it loads of times now gets better and better.

American Dad season 1 is the start of a great tv show. It is just as good as family guy but with a different family and story. If you like family guy you will love American Dad.

HAD TO HAVE IT AND WANT TO COLLECT THEM ALL AND DONT DISLIKE ANYTHING ABOUT IT.THE PRICE AND CONDITION OF IT WAS GREAT JUST LIKE I HAD BOUGHT IT FROM A SHOP.

I was skeptical when I first heard about this series. From the creators of Family Guy I thought it might just be an excuse to force feed us more adult based cartoon humor. So I avoided it for some time, until I could take no more re-runs of Family Guy, South Park, King Of The Hill etc.
After getting over my initial skepticism and with a few episodes under my belt I really started to enjoy the pace of American Dad. Without breaking for flashbacks every 5 minutes (ala Family Guy) the show certainly seems to flow smoother and packs more of an aggressive comic punch.
The family layout is kind of Similar to Family Guy-Talking animals, 2.4 dysfunctional children etc.
I heard a good phrase on another website that perfectly sums up American Dad.

American Dad is to Family Guy what Futurama was to The Simpsons.

Awesomely funny! Totally right wing-totally ridiculous-don't buy if easily offended!! Many minorities take a beating!

This will leave you in stitches as it is hilarious, with disturbing story lines and confusing sketches makes me tickle inside, love the fact that this show takes the whole political correctness into a different level. I will point out this is NOT for the faint hearted or for people who don't have a sense of humor, as that some jokes are quite 'sickly'. Overall i love it for these very reasons, i do recommended it to people who understand politics, love comedy and who are open-minded.

American Dad happily fills the void between the family friendly Simpsons and the very adult intellect of Family Guy.

You can really see the influence of Seth McFarlane and how this has been extended further through the use of more abstract characters (Klaus the talking Goldfish and Roger the camp alien). Some may say that this is perhaps a little too strange and pulls previously exhausted narratives further, however it does add to the charm of the show.

One thing that really does set this apart is moral delivery that is evident in each episode. Similar to other great shows such as My Name is Earl and Scrubs there always is a deeper and stronger story being told which trys to deliver one of the 'better' life messages.

All in all, this show is not as intellectual as Family Guy but you would feel a lot more comfortable allowing your children to view it with you.

If you love Family Guy then you'll love American Dad! Witty humour! Adult cartoon, the family are great viewing.

if you like family guy you will love this. all of the same humour just in a different form. it is a laugh out loud series well worth buying.

I wanted to buy this dvd as i love american dad and wanted to have the whole collection of episodes. I was also happy to find it at such a low price compared to that in shops.

I thought the item was very good, its hilarious and i recommend everyone to buy it and watch it!

As for what i dislike about the item...well i dont dislike anything!

All in all it is an excellent product!

Excellent, entertaining and hilarious scripts; fun, well-thought-out characters and off-the-wall & sometimes controversial humour. That is 'American Dad'!!

This was bought as an exmas present for my brother in law.
I am asuming it went down well as i think most of the men have been waiting in a queue to borrow it.

If you feel down in the dumps then this is just the tonic!
See how Dad deals with everyday crisis of having brighter than him kids and an Alien lodger to boot!
I found this very entertaining and good for whiling away an hour or to.

It's like The Simpsons without a moral compass, South Park on speed and King of the Hill in some sort of twisted alternative reality.

This is quite possibly the funniest cartoon you'll ever see... but not if you're easily offended.
