Aliens Vs Predator - Requiem (DVD)

Despite the terrible reviews i decided to purchase this as i'm a big fan of both the alien and predator movies and thought if anything that this would make a good addition to my dvd collection. With the reviews i'd read in mind i was actually quite surprised by this film, i enjoyed it. I thought the effects were good and some of the action scenes were well put together, although there's just no need for small town love stories in an alien or predator film .I agree with most other reviews that many of the scenes are very dark.
I think if you watch this film in isolation to all the other alien versus predator films then it is watchable and possibly if you're bored enough quite enjoyable. If you're a purists and compare it to the greatness and originality of the alien or predator films then you'd probably be asking two things: why bother watching it? and why bother making it?.

After the first AVP I waited eagerly for the next and I have to say it didn't come any where near the first. The film was too dark all the way through and the cast were weak. Someone out there was out to make a quick buck and forgot to read the script before letting it loose at the cinema. I will have to survive on the memories of the original Alien and Predator films.

Won this off Ebay and decided to bid on it as I am a great fan of Alien and Predator films and own all other movies made so far. This movie carries on from Alien V's Predator and the battle between both creatures and the survival of man. I was Highly dissapointed with my DVD. The picture is so dark you cannot see the characters faces and it's very hard to see anything and follow the story. Could not see the creatures and could not see most of what was going on. Why make the film so dark? I give it 2 out of 10 purely because I was looking at a black screen 90% of the time and could not follow the plot. Dont bother buying this movie as it was like watching a film with your eyes shut, you dont see much. Found it boring due to the fact you could not hardly see anything and lost interest after a while. What a waste of time. I felt quite down when it ended as I had just sat and watched a film, but it did not feel like it at all and nothing stood out or was memorable as I could not see anything !!!!

ALIEN V'S PREDATOR;REQUIEM IS IS A FAST PACED, ACTION PACKED FILM. ORIGIONALY BOUGHT FOR MY HUSBAND, AS HE IS A BIG FAN OF THE ALIEN FILMS, AND HAS SEEN EVERY ONE OF THEM. THIS FILM LIVES UP TO ITS STANDARDS AND LEAVES YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT THROUGHOUT THE FILM. VERY GORY IN AREAS, RIGHT FROM THE ONSET OF THE FILM, SO IF YOU DONT LIKE A LOT OF THAT, THEN THIS FILM IS NOT FOR YOU.
HOWEVER, THIS FILM TENDS TO BE VERY DARK, AS MOST OF THE FILM IS SET AT NIGHT, SO SOMETIMES IT'S NOT ALL THAT CLEAR TO SEE.
OVERALL THOUGH THIS IS A GREAT FILM TO WATCH, AND DEFINATLY WORTH SEEING.

Another tale in the Sci/Fi saga of Aliens and Predator.
Found this to be quite a good movie, but the storyline seemed a bit disjointed.
The action and gore superb as always. Having watched all the other movies in same thread.
I found it to be entertaining but lacking the strong storylines of the other Aliens and AVP movies.
Was still worth the money and time spent on the movie.
One for the Sci/Fi movie fan's collection.

Easy to watch. Lots of action, in-keeping with alien and predator tradition. Knowledge of the prequels is not essential but would be beneficial. This movie is recommended for fans only, as aliensVSpredator successfully concluded the meeting of alien and predator on Earth. It would have been more interesting if the new alien-predator hybrid could have made it back to the predators’ planet and, to enhance the thrill effect, humans in their various capacities (bait and/or heroes) added into the new environment.

Brought this as enjoyed the others, film good as it follows on from the previous film. Very good storyline and interesting film BUT most of the film was set in the dark which kind of ruined it slightly as hard to see what was going on and who was who...

was never in any doubt that those dvds were rubbish best collection i ever made since the james bond collection

the biggest disapointment you can ever imagine i could not wait for this film to come out its so dark and unwatchable you would get a better picture if you closed your eyes and just used your own imagination,it of been awarded the biggest flop of the year

Not as good as the first AVP or any of the Alien or Predator films.
Slightly similar to Predator 2 in that this time the Predator's vessel, complete with its laboratory full of mutant Aliens, crash lands on the outskirts of a small town in Colorado. Guess what happens!!

If you like Alien's doing battle, and a good shoot'em up movie, then this is the film for you.I love things like that.But if you looking for a intelligent mind stretching sci- fi then this isn't the film for you.

fast paced action wright from the start good story line better than first installment good special effects one for the collection

Well what can i say about this complete failure,was really shocked as it was a no go film,The first film was an amazing one,i never really thought it was going to be beating i gave it 5 out of 5,But this one,i really wish i never bought it.Just a basic storyline,teenage kids in a swimming pool stuff,ok some good shoots of the aliens and the predator,2 out of 5 thumbs down.

This film is not as good as the first AVP episode, suffering from a degree of over-kill (literally), together with an atypical american viewpoint of if you dont understand what it is then nuke it!!!!!!!!!!

Shame....the first film provided a strong foundation for the story to continue. This film lets the side down.

If there are going to be any more AVP films, lets hope they return to Aliens vs Predators in an environment that suits both. e.g. an icy wasteland with explorer types getting cut to ribbons...not the NASCAR faithful and Forrest Gump wondering if the cheerleader is wearing any panties.

It's a bad film but anyone who likes the originals has to get it to complete there collection. After paying good money to see AVP and thinking it was rubbish I made the effort to again go to the cinema for the new AVP requeem and sadly I was very disappointed after the first few mins I knew it wasn't going to be good....why can't they take more time in making better plots and not rushing a film!! anything thats only 1hour and half long is never usually anything special!!!!

hard to say very much about this DVD as the lighting is so low very little is visible for 90% of the time. all other DVDs play well on my set up so not sure what's going on. And no, it's not a copy!

this is very thrilling from start to finish, good special effects, good storyline, i would give it 10 out of 10 , great film!

I saw the first AVP and thought it was brilliant, the story, actors everything i actually felt my heart go faster on the scary bits. If i am honest i was a bit disappointed with AVP2, it was no where near as good as the first one but did continue on well. The first one was so good it was difficult to continue at that pace. I will comment on the hybrid Alien Predator which was a brilliant idea and the way it was portrayed was very good, i remember thinking i dont want to meet that in a dark alley Ha Ha. Overall it was still a good film and well worth a watch, even if it is just the once.

Good film overall but with a weak ending. very nice blu ray disc. definite demo material in terms of sound quality. The DTS HD 5.1 mix is brilliant. If you have a blu ray player then this is a must have for your HD collection.
