Alien Vs Predator (DVD 2005)

I bought this flim before seeing it before. I liked the alien flims and the predator 1 & 2. So i bought it, i thought it was really good.
You can quickly see all the technological advances in the flim industry, the speacial effects are great.
The story line is good, and the flim isnt too cornny or cliched - it is a bit.
I believe that this flim is good and the ending is also good (unlike most other flims).
The only downside is the tag line of the flim - 'no matter who wins, we lose' - this just isnt true - the actual flim is - if alien wins, we lose. And if predator wins, we win. - i find is strange who the writters got the tagline messed up - anyone who has seen the flim would no it wasnt the case. This is only a small negitive about the flim - and doesnt effect the flim at all.
I would say buy this DVD, it is great. If you like any of the alien or predator flims, you will like this.

On paper it sounds like a terrible idea: put the alien monsters from two different films in the same movie. But in fact this is a half-decent film with above-average special effects. Some scientists and archaeologists investigate a mysterious pyramid buried deep down beneath the Antarctic ice - and soon wish they hadn't.

Bought the DVD because we already have the Aliens Quadrilogy. Thought the DVD was very watchable, good special effects, ending a bit cheesy.

Such a cool film!!! I love this movie, the fight scenes from start to finish are awesome!!! Choose which alien you want to win, they both have such endearing qualities!!! A must see movie if you like all-out action, it's non-stop, well made, visually awseome, and thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish!!

This film Alien Vs Predator (DVD 2005) is so clever putting 2 different alien characters and joining up a main story line and to make a quality film also, is a winner!

This film has it all good story line, concept, science-fiction, great cinema style viewing and great sound and graphics for a film!

The predator ends up being hunted as the aliens do, the subject matter in what the predatoralso has a foe: a female companion as a warrior by it side against The ALIEN: this becomes the main focal point of the story line.

The only thing which does let the film down is the sequences of time, some of the air play of the film is a bit to long, but in saying that the film is special, the scenes of gore and horror will keep all interested if you like that sort of thing.

As for entertainement value 4/5 over all 5/5, the reason it got a 5 from me. is the clever continuity of 2 characters fighting against each other for total all out war! This is a film not to be missed! Also as with some other films if you have not seen the originals of predator, or alien, watch this one first, you will enjoy it more.

Story: When audiences caught a glimpse of an alien skull mounted in the trophy cabinet of a Predator in the 1990 film PREDATOR 2, it seemed a franchise was about to be born. Sure enough, comic book artists immediately seized on the possibilities suggested by the brief scene, and a number of skirmishes between the deadly foes were played out on the printed page. Fans have had to endure a lengthy wait for a cinematic match-up, but writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson (EVENT HORIZON) has finally delivered the blood-splattered goods in ALIEN VS. PREDATOR. Set in the near future, a team of archaeologists lead by Charles Wiedland (Lance Henriksen, returning for more ALIEN action after appearances in the second and third films) ventures towards an inexplicable hot zone detected in Antarctica. Joined by Alexa Woods (Sanaa Lathan) and the requisite amount of human fodder for the otherworldly creatures to feast on, Wiedland and his cohorts discover a sizeable underground pyramid. Chaos ensues as they awake the Queen alien from her blissful slumber, causing face-hugging and chest-bursting scenes aplenty. But the ailing crew has a further quandary to grapple with in the shape of some fearsome Predators, who are using the aliens as bait for their offspring to brawl with in an ancient initiation ritual. With the human team trapped in the labyrinth-like pyramid, the battle evolves into a nail-biting three-way tussle between the archaeologists and their extraterrestrial adversaries. Fans of both the ALIEN and PREDATOR movies should find much to satiate their appetites here, and with an ending suggesting further hostilities between the pernicious coupling, this one looks set to run and run.

Comments: So Predator Is Better Then Alien?

Now i LOVED ALL of the Alien Movies AND Predator Movies AND enjoyed this movie therefor very mutch as well.

The end is kinda funny when a alien emerges out of a predator with his fangs, perhaps a new breed of alien :-D

anyways, lets talk about the story.

Predators are a species witch use earth as a safari, now in predator I & II it was told that they like hot temperature, probably because there home world is a bit warmer then on earth.

Yet in this movie it was set at Antartica, under a few thousand miles of ice. It should be to cold for the predators then not?

a bit illogical.

About the Aliens.

In Alien I the setting was way in the future, on a remota planet that got colonized by human pioneers, they discovered hidden caves with eggs of aliens and the aliens wiped out colony and they start investigating.

I haven't seen Alien I in a while now, but i believe that the Alien wasn't so well known.

Since it's FURTHER into the future then '' Alien vs Predator '' then they should know more about it, because there was a human survivor in '' Alien vs Predator '' and a miljonair was involved and satellite images caught and all that so surely they must have investigated about this.

Ok, now combine it together, great action and all that, but let's discuss moviestory a bit.

At about halfway till 75 % of the movie they choose to pick sides of the predator because of the belief '' The enemy of my enemy is my friend ''

In all previous Predator movies the predator wasn't so friendly, now he fights with humans against the aliens?

When watching this movie you have to set your mind at '' 0 ''. some things just don't add up.

But one hell of a cool movie.

This movie is great it is full of action and suspence as to who is gonna win the war kept me on the edge of my seat.

With regards to senseless violence, this is quite entertaining, certainly worth a view!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is one of those films where you expect something completely different, as i did. however this is not just a movie for sci-fi geeks! I'm not entirely sure what genre to class this film as, however it has enough action and jumpy bits to keep you watching until the end!!!

Good use of special effects to taylor the movie to the old school style. General plot a bit weak but forgiven when the Alien goes head to head with a predator. Overall not a bad action movie, missed some obvious links to previous movies and quotes that could have tidied some scenes up. Casting is full of B/C lists and the starring roll headed up by Sanaa Lathan (from Blade) as a leading lady. Support comes from possibly the only A list, Lance Henriksen, who in all plays the villan well but little to no reference to previous encarnations of Bishop.

Overall I would rate this 3/5, it's just not Aliens or Predator as an independant movie but together, a nice little action/sci fi movie.

A thrilling adventure film however not for anybody thinking it will be a suspense filled nail-bitting horro movie it is nothing like the original alien film or predator in fact. Still it is a good movie and one worth seeing even if some of the fights between the two titans of the sci-fi genre are laughable: put it this way you can tell they're puppets. When some of the humans start to die things get a little more spooky and you start to be drawn into the adventure!

I bought this DVD without ever seeing the movie previously. I bought it on the strength of the highly entertaining Predator and Aliens movies. The prospect of the two species battling it out within a fast-moving storyline filled with well-developed characters ripe for the slaughter seemed an enticing prospect. Unfortunately, the movie fails to deliver on a number of levels. The ludicrous storyline is let down by some dreadful scriptwriting. The actors try their best to liven up the poorly-cratfed script but with such poor-grade raw materials at their disposal it's an uphill task. The characters had such little room for development that I couldn't have cared less who died and how. The lazy directing and editing make it all feel rather rushed as the story is pushed along from one ticked-box to the next until the movie finally ends with the obligatory showdown between the big guns. And then there's the credits. You can almost hear the collective sigh of relief from the production team as it's job done and they can leave work early to go down the pub. This uninspired sham is an example of big-budget film-making by the numbers and a missed opportunity of what should have been a belter of a movie.

Only watch this film if you agree not to pay beforehand and still demand your money back afterwards. Dire.

I liked the way the film starts with all the mystery of this strange place than all the fun starts. Good special effects, lots of blood. I liked how the hero was a woman for a change, great ending. Hope to the 2nd one soon.

this is not my sort of film at all, and had i realised that at the time would have passed it by. i bought it as i was told it was a fantastic film, it was horrid

an average shot at what could have been an exellent film. a few good bits but does not really keep the alien/predator franchise as it does not have any alien/predator related things(except the aliens and predators themselves). i would recommend it to see once or twice but not a film you could watch over and over again.Also dont expect an all star cast as theres no great actors or anything like that instead theres a mediocre cast that does a mediocre job. overall the film is average to mediocre.

watched this on sky the other week and liked it so had to buy it, now cant wait for the new one to come on ebay so i buy it on ebay

good film, looking foreward to watching it again. Its my type of film thats why i bought it. I really enjoy predator thats why i had to have this film, it s different but very well made. Not every ones tatse but it s mine - going to watch it again soon.

The title suggest one of those old B&W B movies from the fities like Mickey Mouse meets Godzilla or The Beast from 20000 fathoms, but the little archaeology links just about cover up the cracks. Watch with the lights out and a few stiff drinks and it all becomes worthwhile.
