If you like the acid spurting monster and the Predator who comes to earth to hunt you will love this film - all very good and Sigourney Weaver is no-where in site, bald head or not. A good entertaining film with good effects - a blueray must.. enjoy!

It's hard to write a short critique of this film, largely because of the heritage it carries with it. I could spend pages comparing notes from both sets of films outlining inconsistensies and nit picking. However, having the creative teams behind both Alien and Predator onboard has kept a lot of the film true to it's roots. Predators look like Predators and Aliens look like Aliens. They behave the same as we have seen them before and the anticipation of just how they battle each other was exciting. The plot set up may be unrealistic, but played to the Predator ethos of being hunters with a trial for young warriors in the harshest of ways..kill or be killed..and btw, take out the area with a nuke if you mess up! Getting all that out of the way, the claustrophobic atmosphere was well done and the soundtrack was consistent. Relegating humans to just being in the way was rather good black humour on the scriptwriters part.
Overall, the film fails to match it's predecessors by being a little too slick. The rocket sled scene was very "b movie" and for me, the gestation period of the eggs was nonsense. It felt like a ploy to keep the pace of the film going and jarred with what we know from the previous Alien films. Ironically, this accelerated gestation was used in Alien ressurection and was just as silly. I think many fans wanted long scenes of gritty combat, which was also lacking. What we got was very good though. Quality rather than quantity.
A good film, let down by a poor plot and not enough depth.
