I bought this Cd because my original copy was scratched beyond any hope of being played again. I've always loved it and wanted to replace it. What better place to look than e-bay? I got it for a fraction of the price i would have paid in any shop!

One of the very very best from the nineties!

An astonishing album that came from nowhere to take over the world in 1995. It still sounds brilliant today and it would be somewhere in my list of all-time favourite albums. This much soul, naked feeling and uplifting intelligence rarely co-incides with massive commercial success.

Every song on "Jagged Little Pill" is strong, even the odd one I personally am not so keen on. A freshness and energy come through on every track. On later albums Alanis sometimes comes across as self-indulgent, even self-obsessed, but here her screaming and ranting just sound honest and genuine. This woman has really had enough of being treated like dirt, make no mistake! Alanis goes right into her emotional and psychological troubles but empowers herself and the listener at the same time.

The production by co-writer Glen Ballard is subtle and not too sophisticated, which serves the songs well. The final song "Wake Up" is one of my favourites, a call to get up off your backside and take responsibility for your life. I love this album. Thank you Alanis, Glen Ballard and friends.

  The Original "Twisted Sister"
Review created: 08/01/07

Wow! - Someone has peed Alanis off - so instead of getting mad she got even and wrote songs about it!

The original "twisted sister" or "Angry young woman" her songs are angst and anger ridden, but at the same time funny.

I had this album on tape, then on CD, then on CD again after someone "borrowed it" - TWICE!! It's that good!

L x

JAGGED LITTLE PILL STILL DOES THE BIZ

ITS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT IT IS OVER A DECADE SINCE ALANIS BURST ON TO THE MUSIC SCENE WITH THIS STICK OF DYNAMITE BUT EVEN NOW JAGGED LITTLE PILL HAS THE STRENGTH TO SUCK YOU IN.
THIS ALBUM WAS HIGHLY ORIGINAL ON ITS DEBUT (IT NOW HAS SOME VERY POOR IMITATIONS BY THE LIKES OF NATASHA BEDDINGFIELD- GIVE IT UP LOVE)AND HIGHLY ADDICTIVE. FROM YOU OUTTA KNOW (A FAR CRY FROM ALANIS' USUAL STYLE BUT POSSIBLY HER BEST SINGLE EVER) TO THE ONE HAND IN MY POCKET AND IRONIC. ON FIRST BUYING THIS ALBUM, IN MY TEENS, I SENT MY POOR PARENTS CRAZY LISTENING TO IT REPEATEDLY DAY AND NIGHT FOR... WELL ABOUT A FORTNIGHT ACTUALLY BEFORE THE LYRICS WEREN'T QUITE SO "IRONIC" OR AS CLEVER AS I FIRST THOUGHT. MAYBE I OVERDOSED ON MORRISETTES LITTLE PILL OR IT WAS SO JAGGED IT BEGAN TO GRATE ON ME. IT IS A GREAT ALBUM TO OWN BUT PAY ATTENTION TO THE DOSAGE ADVICE - LISTEN TO TWICE YEARLY, IF YOU MISS ONE DOSE DO NOT DOUBLE A DOSE AS THIS COULD PROVE FATAL TO YOUR MENTAL HEALTH.

I heard an Alannis track on the radio recently and it brought back memorys of 1995 when i had it before. Having not looked after it i decided 13 years later to buy it again and the first place you look from your armchair for a bargain is naturally Ebay. I paid £3.20 inc p+p and are listening now. Great!

Alanis Morissette - jagged little pill

Normally I like music on a heavy note, but I have always liked Alanis Morissettes vocals ever since I heard and bought the single 'you outta know'. This is an album that I have considered buying for a long time but never got around to it. Now that I have I must class it as a great album. I have heard most the songs before but listening to the whole album, each song building on the next you feel the different moods and get a deeper insight. the lyrics also make good reading. A must have album. timeless classic.

this has been one of my favourite albums/artists , my best friend and i would drive around aim-lessly in my first car listening to it (among others of course!). we new all the words for all the songs and would sing along till our throats were sore. this is until my car was broken into and my cds stolen! and im not talking a couple i had no less than fifty inside a case which i kept underneath my seat! this was one of the cds that was taken and i had forgotten all about it until now- was browsing on ebay and came across it and all my memories came flooding back! so thankyou alanis for making such a great album, one which sticks in my head and makes me remember good old times!

  Anthem for the 90's!
Review created: 30/06/09
by:

True to the mid-90's powerful female artists, Alanis delivers a compendium of love, loss and life. There is such passion (You Outta Know) and such endearment (Head Over Feet), but she's always happy with life, and looking at taking the bad with the good (Hand In My Pocket, You Learn).

This album is a 90's anthem and deserves all the praise given, both then and ongoing!

Personally she always reminded me of the likes of her contemporaries Texas and Alisha's Attic.

  Imprescindible
Review created: 15/04/09
